How do I sync reaper to be midi slave to my triton workstation?

How do I sync reaper to be midi slave to my triton workstation? I followed the directions in the manual but when I hit play on the triton then reaper's playback is super fast and erratic (starting and stopping). Has anyone successfully synchronized reaper with an external sequencer, and if so how?
