Music Videos: 🎸 X-Raym Metal Guitar Covers 🤘 (2023-03-05: Limp Bizkit)

Hi,
I am making making a series of some metal guitar covers. I mostly focus on songs which have not been covered yet, so it can go from underground french metal from 2000's to new metalcore bands from 2020+. Maybe it can interest some of you who appreciate this kind of stuff.
At least one other cover should come soon. Not sure how far this will go after that.
All videos are one take recording if possible, with audio unedited as much as possible. So it is far from perfect, but it reflects what I can - and can't - do.
Warning: explicit lyrics. (strong language, dark themes).
Indeed the one take approach is kinda strict, not sure I will keep it for ever situtations, but it is mostly the 'no playback' and 'unedited' which are vey challening. Take about a week of repeition.
So even if far from perfect, it is satisfying to rewatch because it is 'live'. Of course the cover aspect hide some irregularities, but I'm not trying to make a song, just trying to play guitar as a say to share some music I have in mind. And yes, working m guitar skills rather than my edit skills, for a change !
I should listen to Alcest and Dagoba then ! I don't have list but there are quite some other things I consider, mostly underground stuffs which never had any cover... I noticed someone released an Aviana cover the week I finished editing my video haha 🤫

I admit I was not familiar with any of the bands or songs but I'm familiar with the genre somewhat. I enjoyed every video, thx for posting.

Oh yes for sure some of these bands are quite unknown, even among metal fans and even in their own country, with only a dozen of follower on spotify :P I think it is kinda stimulating to give spotlight to some of these gems, especially when the band is gone. They might be more famous things from time to time but I have a huge list of potential candidate of underground bands :P
Anyway, thanks gain, it take quite some work to make such things

Eths is really one of my favorite band, it is so **** dark 👿🤘 Other nice sounds to hear would be "Je vous Hais" and "Crucifere"
I'm glad you like this cover cause I want to play this song since years and only took time to sit down and do the tab. This was indeed quite complicated 😁
I heard some gojira sounds but it is indeed not "one of my bands". Funny thing cause I know how popular they are but it may not just be "my kind of metal", but I may miss something for sure ! I will listen to last album and see.
Yet, there are lots of other band on my list 🤐 Next video this week end probably !
Had to put the phones on for this one. Style change or branching off? And the new sound is so much more polished. I went through some of the others earlier in the post. All good, but Retrospection kinda stood out for me.

Yeah jinjer retrospection is very nice song, lots of difference phase and emotion, it was kinda complex to learn for my level but it may one if the only one I can consider the other are quite harder 😇 if you liked it, take a look at their song Piesces and mostly Vortex. Awesome contrast between cleans and hard parts.
Retrospection is such a strong song. Need to look those guys up. Amazing playing and sound on your side! Speaking about sound: how do you change them on the fly? MIDI controller or actual analog pedal board?

Wow, I would only need 100 years of guitar playing to reach this level ! 😅
For record, my midi pedal is used for record / stop play aleady, it doesnt have much butons.
So I have one input track which sends signal to a clean and a distortion track (this one has a mono to stereo effect), and I automate the sends volume to this tracks. so switching between tones is aleady ready at record ☺️
It seems this kind of format was appreciated, and it was very pleasing to make (also, less editing haha ^^). This means that I will have to put the bar even higher for the next time... Wait and see 🤘
Hey- so going through this page it is obvious- clear talent here.
You share so many great things and ask for little in return..so what little i can return,will come your way.
Not so keen on covers (even if performed brilliantly) & people with exceptional skills could,or really should, (in my mind) be venting their inner creative more often..they are quite capable..and this is where genius shines best.
Hard metal is not really my cup_of_tea..but do let some in,and actually love some of it.
Great job X-Raym- we cannot really even begin,to thankyou enough already.

One of the main idea behind this project is to share some feelings through music and bands I like, so even if it is not someone usual musical genre, I'm glad if the overall emotion can pass anyway
I would be way more modest on my guitar level though, surely because I know how many takes it takes to record the best ones and still find few issues in them, but it is ok, we have to start somewhere, and I'll learn on the way :P
Hey- just crazy..its not4me in style...but that driving rhythm,tones n vocals really just work somehow. heh.
You know,i did read a few studies were conducted on how plants react to music like this..apparently it stresses them out and causes weak growth..but dunno if that is actually true of peoples effects..what do you think about that X-Raym?

Oh yes definitely, this music isn't for every moment...
I don't think it will help or prevent plant to grow, but for people, I'm sure it can help overgrow up some difficult times.

So are you performing or creating all the instruments tracks and doing the vocals ?
Or are you using isolated tracks from YouTube or other source and then doing only your own guitar tracks ?

These are cover in the litteral sense: my guitar cover the original guitar sound, aka, it is still there undiminished. Only for first track I split guitars to make them lower but I am not that happy with the result.
To do this I set the original track to -9dB, set my guitar track volume a bit higher than the rest, and then render ysing Normalize to -1dB peak. 😉
I mixed the original Friops track though.
For the moment, the creative part is mostly on the video, but maybe it will evolve at some point. 😎
