I'm glad I'm not the only one here who appreciate good old 1977 punk rock.

I still remember the first time I heard this single (and I still have it). I was totally blown away, like "sh-t! *this* is the way music should sound". I had heard the Sex Pistols on the radio, but the Damned with this single just blew it all away... And then the ball started rolling...

To think that these guys went into a recording studio where the engineer/producer (John Cale) didn't like the songs they had and forced them to write a whole new bunch of songs for the album, and they did that and simply made a Rock Classic, just like that...

But speaking about pre-1977... these guys had hairdos like no-one else https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM6nasmkg7A :-) Detroit Rock City...

I worked with the Damned a couple of times.
Good band carefully disguising their ability to play in order to fit the punk ethos.

Neat neat neat....

Funniest thing was a gig at the Hammersmith Odeon - now the Apollo - where the fans stood up and simply walked forward when the Damned came on... taking all the seats with them, which they then threw in the old orchestra pit! Awesome.... I was at the desk and got a great view from behind as they all surged towards the stage.
