Default Denial - Slow Rock Song

Hi all,

Working on a new song idea. Recorded an instrumental track and wrote some lyrics this morning. I suspect the music without lyrics may not sound inspiring yet, but I feel the lyrics will take the song to a new level.

Before I merge the two, feedback on what I have so far is welcome.

DENIAL
(Words by Jonathan Linton, Music by Jonathan Linton)

Deep down, inside of me
Is a deep, gaping hole
Down in there, is a fire
Burning out of control

I can’t take this any more
It burns me to the core
All you see’s one side of the aisle
Faced with the facts
All we get, is, a denial

Denial, of the truth
Denial, of the youth
Denial, of end of times
This time, it’s we, that will, deny you!

Far away, you waged war
In a fear, of horrific weapons
A blind eye, you deny
Daily home aggression

I can’t take this any more
Our voice you can’t ignore
All you see’s one side of the aisle
Faced with the facts
All we get, is, a denial

Denial, of the truth
Denial, of the youth
Denial, of end of times
This time, it’s we, that will, deny you!

The mix sounds good so far! Maybe a little repetitive, but I think that'll be cured once the vocals are recorded. Definitely post when you have them recorded - it's hard to comment on lyrics without hearing how they blend with the rest of the track.

I'm hearing a lots of echoverb in the vocals. It's very dry up front and very swamped in the back.

I suspect you cranked up the pre-delay on the verb with some darkened delay?

I guess it's a question of taste. I'm a 'less is more' type.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I was going for a 90s kind a feel but agree after the car test that I overdid it. I will back them off in the next version. I do think the vocals can be better so I may retrack them. Autotune is the work of the devil, so I will also correct any out of key vocals by comping. A guitar solo is in the cards, and I was also thinking of some harmonies or gang vocals. Stay tuned!

Worked further on the song structure. Here is an updated demo. I would like to retrack the vocals and guitars as they are no in timing and key in places. Feedback welcome on what I have so far however:
