Default New Controller for MCU/HUI protocol incoming

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/X-TOUCH.aspx

Not out yet, but one can slightly drool at the specs already. 100mm touch-sensitive motor faders. Given Behringers price range this might be interesting for lots of folks. There's a version with less buttons and without the scribble script and ethernet as well.

X-Touch (big unit pictured below) is planned to be $599, the X-Touch compact $399 and the little one (encoders + 1 60mm fader) is $99.

Soundonsound.com has a video about the units here:

X-Touch COMPACT (probably the one I'd pick because of the extra encoders and extra layer)

I know I want one Just dunno which one. The full sized one is better for mixer control, the compact one has more encoders... I wonder if on full sized one we can use it like a BCF/BCR, so freely assign controllers to MIDI CC/sysex etc...

I´ve been stuck on ProTools because I can´t live without my Command 8. When working with Reaper always missed the control surface. I hope this will be the perfect solution for controlling Reaper. I guess I´m going to sell my Command 8 since the new X Touch should work with PT and Reaper.

Can´t wait!

As you can offset control surfaces in what tracks they display, it shouldn't be hard to combine the X-Touch with the compact via the USB extension jacks.

One can hope that this is a decent equivalent to the MCU. The faders will be the crux. The test seems nicely done, as the MCU has jack-sucking-stilts it terms of colour coding to ease the navigation.

The compact has two layers. I'm hoping it'll present itself as one device per layer, so I can frolic about with the knobs for plugin or other funny controls on the second layer.

I'm intrigued by the MOTOR keyboards. Semi-weighted keys with aftertouch, arp, 9 motorized faders, 8 rotary encoders, 8 drum pads, transport controls.

Looking at the brochure, 4 separate bank selectors each for the faders, knobs, and pads.

Default X-Touch, XENYX UFX1604 and MOTÖR 61

With products like X-Touch, X-32, XENYX UFX1604 and MOTÖR 61 we don't see any reasons to invest in anything other than Behringer.. As long as they support or function with our favorite DAW BlowTools.. Err I meant Reaper

It's Incredible how things have exploded in the music industry lately, how much value you get these days is great news. I still remember suffering through my expensive Revox reel to Reel back in the "haydays" and how I thought it sounded like crap back then, nothing but noise etc

Tried out the new "Traction" DAW, but hated it after a few seconds. It reminded me about that presonus DAW or MACINTORCH where they persistently think they have the "power" to force you into thinking their way and for an enormous fee which can never happen in my world.. ever It's pretty bad when You'd rather use "Blow-Tools" Without(!) surround sound capabilities than the above DAW's,especially since they claim they're worth 5K for their HD version with 5.1 surround unlocked.. Nah just keep AVIDLY, polishing your BIG noses without our help..

Actually, the only thing that would make us stop supporting Reaper is if there was a built in "back door" which terminated our license. Even without the frequent updates, I can't imagine using anything else, besides we worked for years, updating our studio template.. Nothing comes close to Reaper's unrestricted, straight forward approach..

BTW.. Does anyone know how I change my username on here to BorsingStudios? (Our new company name/domain)..

I' interested in the above as well and as i use NI's Komplete 8/9 (10) Ultimate I'll probably invest in their 61 Komplete keyboard.. Does anyone know if those LED's light up during MIDI playback of an already recorded MIDI track? Would be potentially helpful for me since I have lot' of songs to re learn and practice..

Late reply:
yes they do..but you have to be in komplete kontrol as your VSTi with whatever preset. No light show if you are in K5 or other NI instrument for playback. That does mean that 'archived' projects, recorded with specific presets from instruments other than NI or NI ones outside of KK will not light up.

I guess you could find the NI presets inside of KK, change the VSTi to KK and the device but that might take a long while to do.
The setting is in the kk interface under hardware starting on P39 in the manual.
Good luck
