Is there a way to get current item info or item notes within a JSFX?

I want to improve the Video Processor's "Title text overlay" preset by dynamically updating "text", either according to the current media item's name or the current empty item's notes. However, I can't find anything about getting item information in the documentation. I suspect it could be done, since other presets use functions like input_info() and input_next_item(), but these are undocumented. Can someone point me in the right direction?
