Default Help

I installed and everything was working fine. Watching a youtube video on making folders in the setting menu, I did a New Song folder, recorded some BS and then deleted the files in the folder and he folder. Now when I open Reaper it is looking for the file and will not open. I have tried to unistall it many times but when I reinstall it is still looking for that folder and will not open. Yes I broke Reaper. I really like this program, just getting started with it. How do I unistall everything or make it open without looking for the file. Need help bad! THX!

Are you on Windows, macOS or Linux?

In case of Windows, try launching Reaper via the (create new project) shortcut in the Windows Start Menu.

As a general side note: Startup options can be changed in the Preferences > General: Startup Settings to [New project] or [Prompt] (instead of loading the last project automatically).

OK. Have you already tried using the Shortcut in the Windows Start Menu (shown in the image above)?

Another option to try would be to open a .RPP Reaper Project file directly from the Windows File Explorer.

In case you don't have any Reaper Project files available anymore on your PC:... and then launching this one from the Windows File Explorer.

Otherwise:
  • Go to the Reaper resource folder **
  • Move the entire Reaper resource folder to a different location
  • Restart (or reinstall) Reaper afterwards (so the Resource folder will be built again fresh)

** Usually located in C:\USERS\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Reaper (which is a hidden folder by default). More info here https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=51164

By the way, it's also possible to make a portable Reaper install into a separate folder: http://lacinato.com/cm/blog/25-reaperportable

Great. And welcome to the Reaper Forums!

In case you haven't already found them, make sure to also check out the User Guide (https://www.reaper.fm/userguide.php) and Videos section (https://www.reaper.fm/videos.php) in general.
Lots of useful info there for getting started.

For some of us accustomed to REAPER's stability that sounds as likely as you could break the Internet.

Welcome to Reaperland BTW!
