Default It's too quiet around here...

Maybe the quiet befoer the storm. Could it be that 4.0 is lurking in the bushes? Not a lot of posts from the heavy hitters either. I think it might be time...

I doubt it. 3.72 first... I guess.

Nobody knows anything, and we already have a hundred threads for speculating about v4. Why start a new one, in the pre-release forum muchless?

Uh, because this is the place Ver 4 will be relased first.

I certainly like the current version of Reaper, but I must admit to a bit of anticipation and excitment about what Ver 4 might hold. And yes, there's been a few threads on this topic, but my obervation was about the relative few posts over the past days abd I just wondered if the silence might suggest that ver 4 was right aroud the corner.

ya me too, i'm very curious. i don't know if i should expect really alot of changes or just a few "minor" ones which don't completely change all that much or add a whole new thing to it, but just changes a few things in important ways and in ways that would be difficult or long to program.

i really hope it doesn't change too much though or make it difficult to get what i have now to remain how i have it now in terms of actions and bindings and stuff like that.

i'm really curious what things will be getting a facelift.

From a functional standpoint, Reaper already does nearly everything I need it do, and does it will I might add. Oddly, I find myself hoping for a shiny facelift to the UI as much as anything else. After seeing Brice's mockup and I can't stop thinking about just how good Reaper could look.

Hopefully we'll know somehting soon.

No, I don't think it will be a button for it but a number of Actions for making a hit record 3.00 minutes long and one for every 10 second up to 5.30 minutes ... and then yet another set of Actions for different genres ;-)

And of course a "make a cup of tea action" as we'll now be able to put are feet up while the hits roll out...

That'll need to a be a clever GUI. Juggling that many actions is cumbersome at best. Just look at the number of split actions we have, and now I'm supposed to commit dozens of actions to song writing ? Madness!

The devs appear to be people of good taste - so I would suspect the magic button will be for turning so called hits into much more listenable jazz versions

It would expect nothing less than a fully configurable set of actions to produce any number of genres at the touch of a "custom macro"

And I hear its going to look like the flight desk of apolo 4 crossed with the deathstar.........

in kenny`s thread about his vids, he mentions the announcement of 4.

Am I dumb, blind, or just missed it?

Since I only just went from 2.58 to 3.72 on my ackchewul music PC in the last couple of days, I may be a while catching up with the rest of you.... it`s an age thing.

It's probably more of a "Do I need to read the changelog like a daily newspaper?" thing. The manual is the best place to beef up on what's improved and different between major versions.

V4... what do I know. I lost my crystal ball in the last major version update. Next week the new Protools version is almost certainly being announced. That'll be good for a hearty chuckle and some "That's fantastic, but does it work?" chatter.

Reaper however is the frontier in many regards, but it seems it'll take a little while longer. I sure hope I'm not a few days late to the party when the versions start appearing.

I'm trying not to be impatient. But having a hard time here. I've decided to follow a gut feeling not to start theming again until 4 is here in some version. So now I'm waiting. Checking here everyday. And waiting.

If you want to see real angst, check out the Cakewalk forums. For years it's been traditional for a new major release of Sonar to come out in September or October. Well, October's nearly gone and still not a word from "the bakers". They're going nuts over there - and it's all for the sake of probably plunking down a couple hundred bucks for a ticket to ride.

At least here we've been told that we'll have a new Reaper by the end of the year, and it's gonna be free for many of us.

So we got that going for us... which is nice.

i'm not checking in here anymore until 4 arrives. all of the changes will feel more like a surprise.

i have to say though, i don't ever remember reaper updates moving at this pace. i'm usually behind any way.
