__________________________________________________

This month's track, "You & Me & the Radio", was chosen by last month's winner Svein. It is by Human Radio and is available courtesy of the Cambridge Music Technology site.

Note: In addition to the effects included with Reaper, the Tukan plugins (all current versions from ReaPack as of the 1st of the month) are considered part of the base installation for the contest, so if you're using plugins from this version of tukan, you don't need to include them in your submission. These are now included in mixcheck.

Non Reaper / Tukan JSFX are still allowed, you just need to include them with your submission.

Please remember:

-NO GLUING OF FILES / RENDERING OF EFFECTS
-ONLY NATIVE REAPER FX -or- non-Native JSFX files that you include with your submission.

It's recommended that you take advantage of the normalization settings in the reaper rendering dialog to meet the LUFS and dBFS requirements by:

1. Normalizing to -14 LUFS.
2. If your mix peaks at or under -1 dBFS, you're done!
3. If your mix peaks over -1 dBFS, rerender it, normalizing to -1 dBFS.

MixCheck (https://reamixed.com/mixcheck/) is still beta, it can help you by analyzing your .rpp files before you upload to:
- Make sure your they don't contain disqualifying audio files
- Make sure your they don't contain disqualifying VST/AU plugins
- See what non-native JSFX files you need to include in your zip file
- See what impulse files you need to include in your zip file

NOTE that Mix Check DOES NOT upload your mix, only checks your project file on your local machine.

Once Mix Check has been tested I may not require you to send in the mixed flacs, just the project files, jsfx and impulses. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that.

You can download the multitrack from the website or clicking on this link.

-Daryl

Default mix check

The mix-check says I have to remove all wave files... why ?
Is this a mistake by the mix-check ?

Fast work, Wallaby!

Forgot to update the file list. It's updated now, reload the page & try again. If it doesn't work I may need to do something additional to take into account the subdirectories, let me know.

Hi ArmTazar, I think it is 124 bpm.

I 've tried this method of Kenny to find out: https://www.reaper.fm/videos.php#Z9k09zgbE6g
Cheers

Hi,
I have a question for understanding:
is it regarded as destructive editing (and therefor not allowed here) if I would do the following:
- copy some appropriate parts of the Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 tracks
- to a new track
- and shift these small parts (or snippets) in time to the muted parts of the original Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 track
- in order to get rid off the imho annoying muted guitar parts

Jopame
Greetings from Germany

I think this is allowed, I do this all the time.
The audio item can be trimmed to a small part and placed where ever you like as long no slicing or clueing.

Does the vocal performance annoy anyone else?

The singer doesn't pronounce the first vowel in "perfection" at all. It comes out as "p-FECTion", and the FECT sounds kinda rough and bad.

It's definitely not the worst vocal I've ever tried to mix (I've tried to mix my own, after all), but it's still not awesome. A few more takes, maybe with a producer paying attention to the little details, and this tune would have improved dramatically.

Hi Wallaby, thanks for your answer. That was my understanding as well. There was something wrong with my project file and firstly I didn't know why. I had to think through my workday. But in the evening the penny has dropped: I renamed the original audio file names, which of course causes trouble. While renaming I must probably had just my brain switched off ...

Kenny has several videos about how to find the tempo of a song and I think this is the best one.
Straightforward and clear.

Hi all - I'm gonna start trying to join in on these over the next couple of months. I'm a beginner but it'll be fun and good practise.

Is there any hard and fast rules about how far you can change certain things?

Can I slip edit to improve timing if need be?

Can I apply effects that significantly alter the character of particular parts?

Yes yes you can do all effects and moving around the audio items.
Just not glue together or slice into parts.
Copy a part and trim and move and put thousand effects on it !
At the end only effects from Reaper can be in, no Waves plugins or other stuff.
Still almost 4 days left to send in the file ! Try !
