Judging from the response you've had to this post, there aren't many of us left, hanging onto the 01x, thanks to a lack of commitment to it from yamaha. And its a shame because its a fine piece of gear.

It is an amazing piece of gear and with it i have 2- i88-x's
It is rock solid and never had a problem as the last drivers are all you need.

Have you got the 01x working with windows7 64 bit? I had a go at trying to get it run on win7 but had to revert back to xp.

Yes I've seen that before. Maybe one day in the future I'll try it. xp suits my need for the meantime. And I still got a lot to learn to get the full benefit of the 01x.

Hi,
Don't have an 01x but I am running a single i88x with Reaper. Early days for me after a long break from recording but it seems to work well with the mlan drivers and 10.6 on the mac.
52 tele: are you running external firewire drives daisy chained off your i88x's? I can't seem to get mine recognised.

There sure is as the first 2 pre amps on the 188-x are the same as the; i think it is called Yamaha DM 2000
They are very clean and lots of head room and don't sell it as you can find many uses as the adat is a big bonus as there are good deals on adat pre amps that are cheap to buy as in used which will give you 20 inputs!

First two pres on the i88x are sweet. As stated, they've got heaps of headroom but can get nice and gritty if you push them a bit. Worth it for the pres alone which you can tap from the insert points if you wanted to use them stand alone.
I run an Octopre with an ADAT output straight in to the i88x's optical input as my hardwired 8 channels of drum mics - nice and punchy. My only beef is that you need to use 2 of the 8 balanced ouputs on the i88x for monitoring, so I'll be adding an ADA8000 or similar to get 8 channels out to my mixer. I guess adding a second i88x (if I could find one) would be the other option.
