So you think the pricing is unfair? They should give the software away to guys like you? You join the forum a month ago and already you have better ideas about how things should be?
I'm still wanting to know where you get the idea that the devs don't use Reaper. Do you think you're talking about some big huge corporation here?
If it was all about the money, do you honestly think there would be a 'demo' that isn't really a demo at all, but a fully-functioning version of the program? One that never really expires or stops functioning? A company that puts their product out there knowing that a large number of users will remain non-paying users? If it was all about the money there would certainly be restrictions and limitations like every other demo version of software.
Sorry, but you have it wrong this time.

Hasan: If you genuinely believe the devs dont use reaper you need to go visit Justins blog.
And as edKilp says, dont make assumptions without checking the facts first!

You know why because they follow someone who is ignorant and don't really know about software and does not care at all just for the money...

You obviously have Reaper confused with Avid...

Obviously they are about the money, which is saving you from having to spend any more of it than you should if you are just a hobbyist.
Why on earth would you have a problem with that?

The obvious response to that is: OK go ahead.
You may not realise it, but your whole tone is pretty aggressive and self-congratulatory.
I am not wanting to start a fight, just letting you know the impression you are giving, which I am sure is unintentional.
As my wife often says to me when I get too caught up in a subject:
"Wind your neck in"

You are so sympathetic
With those understatements like Hasan`s, i use to say: "hier rein, da raus"!
Can you translate "Wind your neck in" in german?
To the topic:
I unfortunately find reaper after i spend a lot of money for other "hipper" daw`s. If i had known about reapers functions and of course business-model before, this would be the only daw i ever use.

Reaper 5 is not even released, you should respect the forum rules and confine your comments about it to the pre-release section.
Reaper 4 theme is fine IMO. I didn't particularly love it but it only took me about 5 minutes to learn how to change it. Hardly worth spending the time and energy to publicly complain about it when there are so many options and the ability to customize your own.
I find the Reaper marketing approach to be very refreshing and of much higher integrity than any I can think of. It costs less than most pay for a single plugin. Of all the DAW companies they would be the least subject to criticism in this regard.

I hate to interrupt a good tape measure contest, but as far as a better standard theme for Reaper goes ... I would love to have a usable one.
I use Apollo ... but where did it go?
If Reaper looked and felt like Sonar X3 or Platinum I would love it.

Yes, I have a theme called 'Apollo B' I've had for a while, but I don't recall if it's different than Apollo 4. If so I'd really be interested to check out Apollo 4 if anyone has it.

The theme from this thread here is quite different from appollo b1.
I actually found a version from January this year on my machine now. But I think there was a newer one even.
Also, does anyone know what the legal status for making small changes and redistributing is?
If this is allowed then we could keep this great theme alive!

Good question, i would like to know this myself.
My first though is that if it is missing any form of 'disclaimer' then yeah, legally it is ok i guess.
Then we have the gentlemen thing that taps on the shoulder and add worry.
If you ask me, if no disclaimer, then it should be fine if you credit the creators, even if it is obvious who is.
Should be done by default anyway, artists is so sensitive i tell you.
So yeah, i would like to hear from someone who knows for sure what is what.
There is an older ApolloDark that is based on Wittis code though still online for what it worth.
I also hope lampshade get his new one finished before christmas.
Hope Witty comes back for what it's worth.

I kind of like aspects of both. I do like the overall appearance of the original (b1) more (e.g. the vu meter colours; alternating row colours in the arrange view; the MCP levels and pan readout changing to an input indicator when in record mode), but some things, like the vertical meters in the TCP (even when minimised!) are really cool in the mod of Witti. Witti's version also seems less "busy" or so.
For me, I adapted Witti's version to at least include the alternate row colours and I might also change the vu meters and the input indicator. The question still remains, if I would be allowed to redistribute this then...

If anyone likes to dock the transport on top and another toolbar docked on it's side, you should change >
row 2058: set trans.size.minmax [419 105 419 105] into > [419 40 419 105] or it will waste space like a *blip!*

My favourite theme by far since I installed it back in 2013.
For curiosity I tried newer themes but for me nothing beats the Apollo 4. Would be amazing to have updates (e.g. theme adjuster or make sure it works with hires screens, etc)
