Default Real Time Tempo - Possible?

Hi guys, how are ya? So I'm thinking of a way to set tempo in Reaper in real time (as a conductor would do, but instead by tapping a key).

My initial thought was to create a cycle action:
1- Create Marker
2- Convert Markers to tempo

The problems of this method were that I couldn't have any markers on the project or I would have to erase them (no problem there). But the second problem was that everytime the Convert Markers to Tempo action runs, it opens the dialogue box, pausing the playback.

So, I have three questions for you guys:
1- has anyone done something similar?
2- is there a way to skip the dialogue box?
3- is all of this even possible???

Thanks in advance =)

Hey Goldreap. Not exactly that. Because I want to set tempo as the music plays, determining different tempo changes along the way.

This is doable.
Do you have the sws addon for reaper?

If you install sws you can get whole lot of useful actions.
This action is the one you want.

SWS/BR Move closest measure gridline to play cursor

To set it up you need to have the material recorded to the grid by either a click track or tempo map it.

make sure your audio items have either a split or stretch marker on every measure.

Also set the timebase to Beat(position, length, rate), in project settings

Also make a key shortcut for the above SWS action, maybe C for conductor.

Then you are good to go, just press the short cut once per measure while in play.

Also try waving a stick around

Garrick, thats it!!!

I had to update my sws to get this new action and it works as I wanted!

Now I'll just wait for my Leap Motion control to arrive to start making some crazy sh*t.

Thanks!!!!!
