Default Arrange vs Mixer scrolling ...

VOTE

Sorry to post this in here instead of the dedicated FR sub-forum; I feel it needs to be addressed during this pre-release cycle ...

///////

OSX ... REAPER v4.0alpha51a

We need proper horizontal scrolling in the mixer.

Currently, a horizontal scroll with the mouse cursor over the arrange window works as expected ... the view scrolls left/right. A vertical scroll ... scrolls vertically ... nice.

This is what happens with the cursor over the mixer window:

- horizontal scrolling scrolls the arrange view not the mixer view - why?
- vertical motion scrolling scrolls horizontally ...... unintuitive, and means that it's not possible to have mousewheel fader control enabled because the vertical scrolling motion only scrolls horizontally when the cursor is over the fader area ...... not when over the send/fx area :-/

I don't know if this is relevant to the Windows build or not ... but please can it be sorted out?

It really drives me bananas! ... thanks.

+1, please make whatever the user assigns as horizontal scroll also work on the mixer. This fucks me up every single time.

...and also include the Media Explorer waveform display. The zoom doesn't follow the user setting of the TCP etc.

Vertical scrolling does not work as expected. It's very annoying! I want a real default vertical scroll, not a default horizontal zoom !!! WTH is wrong with that??? This the default OS behavior, on any OS, BTW!

I don't have to program this stuff myself!!! I don't even know where to look.
Reaper is TOO much customizable. Too complicated. I'm a musician not a programer.
I need something that works as expected right out of the box, and just focus on making music. Not spend days on end to try to customize it to my needs.

+1 to all of the above. Consistency is always a plus, so at the very least it should be user-tested.

Also, a small idea for the mixer.

Instead of the scrollbar, a navigator-type display that displays the colours of the tracks.

It may or may not work, depending on how the colours area presented. Other information could be part of that display as well, such as small track numbers, or mouse-over track-name tooltips. I'll cook up a small mockup and post it right here.

+1.000.000

it's very annoying and un-intuitive the current behaviour.
I would like to see implemented a STANDARD default behaviour.
Anyone who is approaching Reaper go crazy in this way.
Plus sometimes i am scrolling on TCP when i move -unwantedly- the mouse on the main window causing a nasty reaction.

I fully support this. As it is now it´s almost a showstopper.

Great idea and mock-up Airon. Your ideas and insight during this release cycle have been first class.
