On v5.81 pre1 thread, I reported the laggy behaviour of left/right scroll actions in the Midi Editor :

https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...6&postcount=23

I was mistaken about one important thing in that post : it wasn´t in the ME but in the Notation Editor (!!). The ME itself does not seem to show the behaviour, at least here. When I simply open the Notation view with a single track in an otherwise empty project, the edit cursor is extremely laggy when I scroll left or right with the correspponding arrows. Now I hope it can be easily reproduced, since it renders the notation view almost useless with that kind of cursor lagginess.

I´ll have to stay with v5.80 until it´s fixed...

I miss the videos of "The REAPER Blog" you tube channel for every new version that came out. I think I'll be a bit confused with all this new option/behaviors, anyway I love the work you are doing here, I prefer options over fixed behaviors.

Default Terrible sound when pressing pause

I hope this is the right place. After a while not using reaper I installed this pre. Now, whenever I press pause (key or by mouse) there is a grating, digital sound playing. It sounds like reaper is looping over a few samples. The loop markers stay the same.

OSX, High Sierra, 10.13.4, 16GB RAM. Komplete Audio USB Soundcard.

He's still doing them, just not for every single release.

the last few updates have been mostly bug fixes and nothing I can really show as 'new'. Most of the MIDI editor changes have been too subtle for me to notice any difference.

edit -
My last update video was 5.77, not that long ago. I also did a video on the track height lock (5.78) by itself, but nothing in April.

So only 2 updates behind, I'll try to include some 5.78-.80 changes in the 5.81 video.

making two portable installs now to compare behavior.

Justin will probably ask this so I'll mention it too. Did the issue start on pre1 or "this pre" as in pre2?

If you're not sure but have the time. Try to reinstall pre1 and see if it's still there. Sometimes these issues can be caused by an OS upgrade that happens to coincide with this reaper upgrade so always worth going back and checking the exact pre this started happening in

When opening a MIDI item in a *new* MIDI editor, the editor tries to recall the last-used position and zoom of that item, which is helpful.

I suggest that the same should be done when activating faraway, out-of-sight items within an *existing* MIDI editor, via the Track List. (If the item has not been viewed before, the editor can zoom to fit.)

If you ask in the OSX Reaper forum, they'll probably help you.
Sounds like a plugin doesn't like 10.13.4

Regarding sluggish MIDI editor when "hand scrolling":

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=199357
https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=17

Since the latest pres were a lot about MIDI editing: any chance, this will be fixed?

Trying to make sense of these MIDI editor changes and quickly ran into this bug that I think I reported a long time ago and was fixed. Seems to be in more recent updates like 5.78

Screenshot -

Notice where the playhead moved to, versus where the edit cursor is (purple line on the left of the mouse), and the obvious glitch in the track lane

And video of the whole issue
