Now that's a nice gesture. There's the almost identical problem right under your noses.
Empty items. I know, they're an ugly step child from years past and you even snapped off its "Medit item bottom half" mouse modifier context area at one point, but it does have one shortcoming that fits in to the mold of this recent improvement for automation items.
None of the items or tracks are selected. The text in the upper item. I just tested this with an automation item and here's how that looks.
Clear as day. The automation item. Not the empty item. On the same track.

Please please please have a look at the font rendering in this area. With some themes (I believe it depends on the media item font choosen) the letters lie a little bit too far down so the descent area (not sure it's the right wording) get's cut off. Letters like p, q, f, g, j. It would be cool when you can tweak it so everything sits tight. See attached example.
Ps. One extreme example is Clear Sans by Intel.

Font rendering. Across the board. But I don't want to be a broken record. Nobody likes records anymore. It's not a priority it seems over the years.

Agree with Airon.
Thanks for this though! Good start!

gradual tempo changes still screw up the grid. this is important.
very much not OK for copy-item snapping etc
variable tempo is normal and should be supported via grid
surely this is a bug, and not some feature i'm overlooking?
desired behavior: don't be weird with grid divisions?

i feel like the displayed grid is paying more attention to time than musical measure or something -- as i'm trying to figure out why it's doing what it does
as option, (as default) this shouldn't be the case. deeply fucks up the entire grid.
please, someone explain if the current grid thing is appropriate for your use case

The gridline code has not changed in this prerelease cycle, actually it hasn't changed for years. The code that decides which ruler labels to draw has changed in this prerelease cycle, but I don't think that's what you're referring to.
It's a reasonable request for the gridline display to be more predictable when dealing with linear tempo changes, but since it's not a new issue in this cycle, we'll look at it once this cycle is done.

Why did it change? In "Minimal" modes it defeats the whole purpose of them which is show the most simple version of the ruler.
RC6:
5.62:
It's way cleaner and easier to read (which translates into moving faster across the project) in 5.62. Please bring that back.

It changed because there was a bug with project bar offset. But I agree that minimal modes are a bit borked now at some zoom levels.

Ok, good, thanks for clearing that up for me.
Now, I wouldn't really call it "borked" but "too busy". I understand it shows ALL now when you zoom in which might be good in some situations but that should happen on another ruler format not minimal, in my opinion.

I think even in minimal when you zoom deep in, you should still see SOMETHING, not nothing except for main beats...
