Default Serious problem with VLC and Reaper

Hi forum.

I use VLC 3. Reaper is insisting on finding a VLC 2.x in order to load mp4 files in my project. How can I get reaper to SEE my vlc3 and just use it? Do I really have to install a VLC2 alongside 3 to satisfy this? And yes I know VLC3 is not out yet officially, but many people use it.

If not, can you please tell me how to force Reaper to use my ffmpeg at least? I put it first in the list and even removed everything but ffmpeg and it refuses to use it over the failing vlc2 complaining "could not import" message.

Can I install a portable VLC2 at least and make Reaper use that one? I don't want to lose VLC3 thanks.

Thank you.

Oh. That explains it I guess lol Do you think it ever will?

ED, how would I go about forcing Reaper to use ffmpeg? I've tried only having ffmpeg in the list, and also keeping the list and putting ffmpeg at the beginning nothing works. It keeps complaining about wanting VLC and my video media is offline via import.

Thank you kindly.

You need to have ffmpeg DLLs (avcodec-54.dll, avformat-54.dll, avutil-52.dll, swscale-2.dll) in UserPlugins folder in Reaper's resources folder...

I assume you already went through this thread?

Yes I did thank you. I had them in a subfolder within UserPlugins. That won't work? I had to move them up and store them loosy goosy in the UserPlugins folder.

FFMPEG is working now in Reaper with VLC3 left alone.
Though I had to use the special ffmpeg suggested link one, it wasn't working with the non-shared one I had laying around. DO you know why?
