ahhh ok so the RC would have all of those things.

unfortunately, I am stupid enough to use the dev versions as regular ones so I depend on the features haha

No...the RC would NOT include all of those things.

The way it works is this:

Dev builds (marked by current release version number+DEV) contain bug fixes, enhancements, and experimental features. These are the bleeding edge releases. Not every feature is guaranteed to be released with the next "official" build, or even ever.

RC builds are release candidates. This is when we find out what from the +dev builds is actually planned for the official release. This may not include all the features in the prior +dev builds. Example: Razer Edit. Exists in the +dev builds, does not exist in the RC build. Usually when a +dev build feature is removed, they appear again in the next round of +dev builds. Not guaranteed though if the devs decide against it. Example: there's a very good chance Razer Edits will appear in the next 6.15+dev builds, but maybe they decide not to pursue it any further at this time. Both are possible.

Official releases are pretty self explanatory and are the next, final iteration of the RC builds.

still having problems with opening project B after project Aone was opened. Seems to be a plugin thing. Opening a new project is never a problem. Opening project B after opening an empty one also is no problem but B after A leads into initializing forever.

Discontinuation of Razor Edit is nowadays my biggest fear regarding the future of REAPER. By now I'm totally dependent on Razor Edit, and very happy to use it. It finally brought to REAPER a number of workflow capabilities that were previously missing.

If Razor Edit never enters main release, I'll almost certainly be forced to continue using +dev builds that have it, and never update my REAPER setup.

Obviously I hope that devs are simply taking the safe approach and waiting for Razor Edit to be thoroughly tested in +dev versions, before adding it to next main release. Perhaps there's also a marketing aspect to it, as Razor Edit would be a significant new selling point.

But the Master VU settings window opens always in the bottom left corner, like it does when the master track is on the default position left side of the mixer. But that is same in v6.14 also, so not a new thing...

Is starting and stopping the play of media items one of the new features because now I can do it with the spacebar and I don't think I could before. Yay

Maybe they just want to build the suspense a bit.

I'm also pretty excited for the release of the razor edit feature. Hopefully it hits the main release relatively soon, I tend not to habitually use dev builds.

there are two features i've been holding out on upgrading for. first is take markers. second is the play rate knob in the media explorer. i didn't see the play rate knob in the list above. haven't seen take markers mentioned for a while. did i just miss them or are they still being held back for further development?

thanks,
babag

From v6.01+dev1213 to v6.14+dev1003.
Note that devs can rename or forget to remove things from pre-release logs (like these two), so list may contain things that have been released.
