Please, don't rush the devs! We all get our jobs done with v5.40! If 5.50 got out and still had reported bugs, would you upgrade? I would not! If there are still reports of bugs related to new added features or regressions caused by them, then they should get fixed. My honest opinion...

I'm just kidding.
I love Reaper and I'll wait for 5.50 and future releases to come out when they will be ready.
AI is a great improvement so it is better that it works fine before release.

True, in some industries - such as this. Bugs in new features and functions tend to be more tolerable than breaks in features and functions that used to work and form a core part of a user's workflow.
I strongly encourage the Devs to be especially sensitive to regression issues. That, for me anyway, is far more frustrating than something that isn't quite right with new features/functions.
I will add, in some industries, escaped defects are totally unacceptable - which is why the bid rate is 1 ELOC (Equivalent Line of Code) per man day. In other words, $$$$$$. You wouldn't want to launch a missile at an enemy and have it kill your wingman, for instance.
Just sayin.

Aye-tbh, the music industry should see faulty programming as "unacceptable" as well right?
I'm not sure if this is the case with cockos-i believe they are competent, but focused on more than 1 thing at a time- this can lead to headaches and blurry vision, simple mistakes.
A missile needs aim to reach a destination,no wingmen needed to babysit that.
Luckily cockos don't have a finger on missile button, because i sense the aim would be "slightly off" - unless proper focus is given to each tiny launching detail..
Think of an engine-- 1st it needs to work without fail/fault-- ok all is good-- now you want to supercharge the engine-- it matters not if adding £10million's of parts to a broken engine.
Refinement needs stabilty to be able to refine further, then take baby steps to debug.?

I found a small bug for automation items:
- Draw a MIDI item.
- Draw an automation item underneath.
- Make sure to set envelope points to move with media items.
- Copy the media item (ctrl + left drag for me).
- Keep dragging, but let go of ctrl.
- The automation item should be left behind allowing you to separate the media item from it.

Automation modes like write, preview ect. don't react on console 1 parameter change. I guess it's not implemented yet. If I write envelopes manually console 1 folows it, problem is only when console 1 is writting automation to DAW. Is it enough if I mention it here?

Thanks for the report -- that is (probably) not a bug though. If the last envelope point is later than the end of the media item, even by a very tiny amount, and the shape of the envelope prior to that point is curved, then the last point won't be copied (because it's not within the media item), so the curve is rendered as a series of new points.

Any reason to not upgrade?
Just curious if anyone has found any issues big enough to wait on a fix. Any significant reason to not upgrade yet? (on 5.40 currently)
Thanks!

schwa, in version 5.40 other behavior, although the shape of the envelope is also changing, this is not correct.
If you use copy-paste, everything copies correctly

Here is an example of the incorrect behavior in 5.40 and all previous versions, which this new behavior is correcting in 5.50.
It may fix your problem to simply re-snap the final envelope point and/or the end of the media item, to make sure they fall at the exact same time. Even from the screenshot, the final envelope point appears to be slightly to the right of the grid line.
Also, I would need your project to know for sure, but I don't think the envelope segments are changing shape. I think it's more likely that the individual segments or points do not have exactly the same position (like that last envelope point) or curvature, so they appear to be changing shape when moving a copy of the entire repeated envelope section left or right.

Indeed, the creation of additional points was due to the fact that the last point was shifted, but the first point is exactly on the grid.
