Since there are some changes on the appearance, would you look at this request for piano roll odd/even background?

v6.56+dev0428
Hi Devs,
Two things:
1) When installing, it asks for an Administrator account.
2) To the new dialogs below in [DLG_236]
B8EB0572152C2FAB=Draw labels above the item when media item height is more than:
C391457FF967B9AA=Hide labels when media item height is less than:
In [prefs_mediavu_help]: I think new texts would be better suited for the two new dialogs above.
P.S: [DLG_295] - The 'Draw as opaque' checkbox seems to have no effect.
Windows 7/64
Best regards,

What happened to the up and down arrows for moving lanes?
Did I miss that being removed or is there a bug in my theme?

Looks like this is no longer possible?
Anyway, as the appearance of item labels is in work now, could we please have an option to draw content of items below labels?
That would be a far better solution than the "yellow lines hack" anyway for those who want some kind of item header area which doesn't overlap with peaks, inherits item color, can be clicked/dragged and keeps the label/buttons always visible regardless of item size.
Similar FRs with slightly different approaches:

I think you have some user settings values mixed up. When I update v6.56 to this Pre (+dev0428a), my "Hide labels when media item height is less than" value gets changed from its current value to 28.

Thank you!
I wanted to make sure, and surely that fixes this: ALT+drag to copy item does not scroll the view on edges
Which is horizontal scroll as well.
Or was it fixed in a previous release and I missed it ?
That's huge! That has been bugging me since day one.
Thanks again

In my workflow I use top half of an item to move it, bottom half to edit it.
When label is drawn above item it creates empty space that isn't useful to me at all. Also it makes item half's smaller so its harder to use them.
When it's drawn inside item it obscures it's content.
Since work is done with labels please add extra option to draw peaks bellow label when label is drawn inside item to create best of both worlds.

But your best of both worlds #3 is identical to #1, just that the label isn't grey. Is the empty space in #3 more useful than that in #1?

When label is drawn inside item top half is clickable, no wasted space. In #1 clicking on empty space does nothing for me.
Currently I'm using option #2, sometimes toggling labels appearance.

Ah, ok, now I understand the difference -- wasted target space for clicking. Thanks.

This is also an issue I have been battling for years now.
Here's example where the label gets in the way of the MIDI data. It's barely visible if there are notes in the area of the label:
Moving the label outside the item shrinks the available space of the item, therefore it's hard to see if there is a chord or single notes:
Bear in mind, the screenshots are scaled up.
Maybe you guys have an idea how to approach this.

Great to see Odys chiming in and sparking some further discussion about my request I really hope our arguments are convincing enough for the devs.

As I wrote in post 9 the main benefits/reasons of the request are, as far as I am concerned:
- no overlap of peaks and labels, unlike:
- label area follows item color, unlike:
- label area can be used to select and drag items easily with coherent visual information, unlike:
- label and buttons are always visible regardless of item heigth, unlike:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is how it SHOULD LOOK (for items at different sizes in default theme):
The default theme doesn't go as small, but for other themes at very small sizes only the label would be visible and no peaks:
And obviously if the item was blue (for example), also the label area should be blue:
