Default Split screen like Excel.

Hi.
Thank you guys for creating REAPER.

I would like to see different area of project same time like Excel.
It may be difficult or impossible to add fundamental function like this.
But it would be nice if this feature was available.
I think many people use Reaper because it can handle large amount of tracks.
So I think many people will be helped by this feature.

You showing just hidden tracks. It's already possible.

As the first answer already wrote it: already possible by hiding tracks (TCP or MCP) with the Track manager window (search it in the actions menu), which can be so super handy. You can even use so called screensets (search it in the actions menu) to have some kind of "these tracks should be visible together and in the other screenset only these tracks" etc. Look at this little GIF in which I switch my screensets with shortcuts (I set them to my F3 to F8 keys, but its up to you):

I'll better see that implemented than boring feature I will never use : surround, wildcards...
That's the one thing Reaper is missing and why I currently work my projects
with Bitwig/Logic.

Everyone has different priorities, so if something is useful for you, doesn't mean others will need it at all.

Cool! Good you let us all know in this thread where it totally does not belong to. Wow!

I thought it was the subforum for feature requests.
It's a good think you are clever enough to remenber it to the community !

Hey now, sometimes long-requested features happen, so let's not forget about it. :-)

(EDIT: I see now that much of this is in the linked FR posted above: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=71855 )

I would love this feature -- there are plenty of workarounds, obviously, but I'd love to e.g. 'pin' the master track and a few top-level folder tracks at the top of the project.

It would also be great to be able to split the screen like e.g. emacs can... e.g. have several arrange views stacked on each other with different zoom levels, etc.

You could even go crazy and have a windowing system similar to blender.

In general it seems like today's high aspect ratio monitors are giving us lots of real estate left/right, which equates to a wide field of view in time, but lots of recordists want more field of view in terms of tracks, and this feature would help that, IMO.

There is also this concept exposed in a FR thread (which may be more convenient than just split arrange view cause you can stick different track far appart, like different group track)

Track sticking: Can somebody make this real?

Sure, your script is awesome, but it's a different story.

@vitalker
THX ! but I'm mostly referring here about real track sticking, where you could have the whole TCP etc, my scripts just shows items merged together, no TCP control etc :P

Still can be considered a different story though.
