MIDI CC Editing
I really miss these things:
- Selecting midi cc data in piano roll view
- re-scaling all selected midi cc data values in piano roll view
- Copying & pasting midi cc data
- smoother, more uniform midi cc event creation when painting with mouse
Would you be so kind, Please..? Reaper is getting matured in many other areas, except midi.

You've hit the spot. ++1 and some million pluses and ones on top.
I keep annoying people with these essentials (especially the controller selection and editing) whenever possible. I really do wonder why so few users hop on this waggon. I hope we find some kind ears sooner than later.

These features are often requested. I'll also add my +++1 (again). One day they'll be implemented and there'll be great rejoicing.

This is really the only update I'd be interested in.... I control a lot of external hardware through controller lanes, so it would make life a lot easier to be able to assign custom CC tags, make pre-set custom CC envelopes, and all of the features above. I started using Reaper a few weeks ago and it seems to be first-class in so many areas, but it's lack of midi features really limit it's usefulness for someone like me.

It's good see that there are people who think that midi and music belongs together. I work with orchestrations, and it's only 50% of the song that you enter the midi notes. The other 50% comes from midi CC editing; mod-wheel, foot-pedal, expression, pitch-wheel. Well, literally the cc editing is taking the most effort, to make it sound as supposed.
And currently it is a bit painful to do with reapers limited support.
It is so close that Reaper is a perfect tool for musician. In other words I'd like to say that midi cc is not some esoteric feature that nobody uses/needs.
Sorry for nagging
cheers

Baddabump...
This FR surely could need some more attention. Though I can see that this is just too basic to lose many words on it I like to invite the midi folk to place some more plusses and ones.

what's up with the rest of the midi users here? Never wanted to grab a bunch of controller events and lower or raise them a bit? For me this is the weakest spot Reaper shows at the moment and as we say around here: a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

MIDI CC affection is the right direction.
Would be wonderful to bring the same flexibility and control from the main editing area down to the CC strips.

This is so basic functionality that it's only a matter of time. But here's a bump for a 'sooner' rather than 'later'

CC Editing
As a recent convert from Sonar, (Why? - for a start I can run Reaper at 50% the latency and the Vienna Ensemble plugin is a lot happier for it!) the one thing I do miss is the ability to draw in controller data within the actual piano roll itself, and not just in a separate controller lane. It would also be nice if the size of the blocks showing the data were narrower.

1 It is impossible to target different track or midi channels on the individual effects in the FX chain
2 To use MIDI learning function must enter the env list, cant simply click on the button on the plugin interface, and adjust the controller

must...bump...this...thread
I really need to be able to select a bunch of cc events and edit them simultaneously. At the mo I export the more difficult midi items to logic and edit them there, but it's just a pita, because I first have to set up the vsti in Logic so I can hear what I'm doing.
pretty pleeeheeeheeeaase.

bump for relative CC editing with a mouse!
also: rpn and nrpn shown in controller lanes and in the midi list editor as one unified message (not a combination of CCs).
nrpn are the future of controlling midi! good resolution, no litim to 127 per channel. the bandwidth is there!
many vsts accept nrpn, e.g. symptohm, sylenth (midi learn).

... meanwhile,
OK guys, give this a try (it's a work-in-progress, freshly baked today)

-- select the operation; you can : - change a CC number or channel,
- set CC message data values,
- change them by a value or a %,
- rescale the values (from one range to another)
-- select the change value
-- or, for Rescale only, set the input and output ranges.
Then " Apply track FX to items as new take (MIDI output)".
Let me know of any additional functions / issues.

As a bump and a further plea regarding CC's ...
In the drop down box listing the CC's would it be possible to list the CC number AND its associated function by name. For example the CC for Volume is 7 but all it states is Volume. Easy one I know but some of the more less known ones (Freq Cutoff & Resonance for example) are listed by name only. Great if you know what the CC's are but not good if you want to know. Really useful if mapping them to a controller of some description also.

They are on CC# 98-101.
Or did you mean something else?

?? it shows the numbers here:

-- there is a limit of 1024 characters in JS FX for a slider definition, so some of the descriptions are a bit abbreviated.
-- the CC labels are the standard GM labels but you can change them if you want, open the file (e.g. in Notepad), find the labels and change them, then Save the file (don't use "Save as")

Right - (deep breath, displaying Reaper newbie-ism)
That CC Editor .... is it functional yet as I can't get it to actually do anything. Where does one place it and how does one get it to function. (Sorry)
With regard to the CC number. I was referring to ReaControlMIDI where only some of the CC numbers are listed.

CC Editor
The CC editor is a JS FX not a VST.
-- Unzip it and put the file somehwere in your Reaper Effects folder (it's in C:\Program Files\REAPER\Effects\DarkStar here)
-- start Reaper,
-- create/record a MIDI Clip,
-- add the CC Editor as an FX to the track,
-- in the CC Editor, select the operation; you can: - change a CC number or channel,
- set CC message data values,
- change them by a value or a %,
- rescale the values (from one range to another),
-- select the change value,
-- or, for Rescale only, set the input and output ranges.
Then right-click the clip, select "Apply track FX to items as new take (MIDI output)". A new take will be created with the orignal one muted. You can then right-click, select "Take" and explode the takes as you wish.

Ah-Ha! Did everything except that. Thanks.
Is there any possibilty of reflecting the changes in real time before the track is actually processed?
