This still makes voxengo plugins come up with 8 channels but I'm guessing that's a fix for synthmaker plugins rather than this but thought I'd mention it anyway

Small Bug
When the "Render to file" dialog is open and "Render" is set to "Selected media items", any selection changes made in the "Project Bay/Media Items" dialog are not reflected in the "Render to file" dialog unless it's closed and reopened.
Would be nice just to have actions for the "Project Bay" and "Track Manager" that would add selected items/tracks to the render queue.
That way we can use those dialogs' built in filter function to quickly get at what we need rendered.
Regarding REAPER's various "Filter" fields.., it sure would be awesome to have the ability to use regex(regular expressions) for advanced filtering.

Nice ideas!
I noticed too that item rendering doesn't update amount of items unless you do one of a few things. One of them being change the render name slightly. will do a bug list now

Another little bug
The Output\Directory field of the "Render to file" dialog is not saved with Presets.

Tested with RS5k, duplicates used by different instances now save with added suffix where needed and names in RS5k also updated accordingly. Great, thanks.

Few things I found that are still here. First though.. thanks a massive bunch for making item render not need to have the track also highlighted! makes it so much faster to work with!
1. item rendering doesn't update amount of items unless you do one of a few things. One of them being change the render name slightly, another is untick a box and then retick it.
2. Thanks for the pseudo mono items now rendering as mono very cool! I still think that if the width is "0" than that would be a good for vst tracks to also be seen as mono for now if possible.
3.I just tried the render queue and although it would be great if it didn't have to close down the project (if it knew nothing had changed other than the render settings), what it brought to my attention again is that for some reason reaper has started putting the sound card offline after things like rendering and it's not easy to get it to be online again. Will look into it further but it seems quite new.
That's it for now, great changes! off now to help Nicholas!

Question: Since (I think anyway) Reaper can play / preview non-contiguous regions, will it also be possible to render master mixes that way with this new thing? Instead of rendering 2 separate mix files, render regions 1 & 3 (for example) to one contiguous file?
Thanks.

I think that's on purpose though?
It seems like that should be asked at the time of saving or something like this as there are two types of "renderers"
Those that also output to the same folder and then move stuff and those that keep things within a folder in the project's directory.
I'm the latter and that option wouldn't help if I wanted to load a preset to say, output 22khz mono but keep it aimed at the current directory.
Still, would be a useful option to have as long as we can choose to either store it on save or always store but not always load on recall (the first seems more practically useful)

ooh, interesting! kind of like an extension to the sws region playlist
I have no idea though where that option should go or be called!

The right-click entries for "mark selected regions to be rendered" and "mark all regions to be rendered" have been replaced by the new right-click menus in the Region Render Matrix, which is good because it avoids clutter and belongs there, but the corresponding action "Regions: mark all regions to be rendered" seems to be gone in 4.58pre10. Will it be replaced by new "Render Matrix:" actions?

These would actually replace your markers and regions which has a lot of useful uses and would avoid the situation of it being broken by adding new regions BUT, it could still be broken if you add, rearrange or delete tracks
A tricky one!

That would certainly be useful. It would make sense to have the values of the Render Matrix column exported along with the other columns when using "export regions/marker".

I think if you want to render all regions you can choose this in the render window as an individual option called "project regions" that does all the regions regardless of the matrix settings.

Agreed but it could only probably usefully save whether the whole master mix was rendered or not as tracks can be added, renamed and deleted. Perhaps the devs can manage this though as I think tracks actually have a identifier they use behind the scenes to avoid this so perhaps they can save tracks too. That could be useful

Batch converter bug. Cannot overwrite/replace files in the same directory (although I remember a recent pre saying we could)
whilst trying this out (to recommend adding it to the manual), I found that I couldn't replace files. I tried to turn one stereo file to a mono version and replace the original.
I can see why it doesn't as it would require reaper to do some "jiggery pokery" in the background to store the old file whilst the new one is created before deleting the original but if it could work it would be very much used I think

If you have at least one track defined Elephant now comes up with the default 2 channels (for me anyway).

Will try again, This is with gliss eq that I'm trying with. I did try and overwrite the defaults too in case that was it.
So I think you're saying that I need to switch one voxengo plugin to stereo and any others when added will be stereo too instead of 8 channel?

Option to have multichannel tracks render to separated files...
Not a biggy if it's really hard or not on the radar and I only ask as this came up in a new user question today and I thought that us post production and game guys will probably need this at some point.
An option to the right of "multichannel tracks to multichannel files" called "as separated channels".
I know reaper can do this internally but if it could manage to take like a combined 6 channel surround wav and split it to separate files it would help with certain studios who work in daws that need separate files instead of a combined one.
anyway.. no biggy, but will save some time down the road.

It's still possible to do it but what I meant is that it's not possible to "mark all to render" with a keyboard shortcut or within a custom action. It breaks existing custom actions that used the "Regions: mark all regions to be rendered" (Cmd ID 40724 was removed in 4.58pre10). It would be great to have corresponding actions for the new menus entries added in 4.58pre10 to assign keyboard shortcuts or use them in custom actions, something like "Render Matrix: render master mix for all regions", "Render Matrix: render all tracks for all regions", "Render Matrix: render master mix + all tracks for all regions", "Render Matrix: render master mix for selected regions", "Render Matrix: render all tracks for selected regions", "Render Matrix: render master mix + all tracks for selected regions".

ComboF now has 2 out again, thanks for fixing. However, if I increase the track channel count to e.g. 4, then it has 4 out. In REAPER v4.57 it stays at 2 out, no matter how many track channels there are. Note that this doesn't seem to be a problem per se, it's just that for other VSTs (e.g. ReaSynth) the number of outputs does always stay at 2.

Well the option under Presets does say "All settings".., so I would take that to mean just that. There is another option under Presets for saving just the "Options and format" sections.., would'nt that apply to your case? Or as long as you had the Output Directory pointed at your default directory you should be good to go when using the save "All settings" option?

I am still having Reaper vanish suddenly when trying to load a fx heavy project. No crash, no report in the Windows Event Viewer. This same project did this in the pre 9, but opens fine in pre 8. Where can I find some kind of log to figure this out (or does one exist)?

Load it up in pre8 and look at the list of effects in the project bay, and write it down here. Could be a culprit in there that the devs have to test to refine the VSTspeaker-thingy improvements. Might also consider sending them the project file.

Unfortunately not as the bounds section I think contains the filename too where I would want to have the wildcards pre-set up.
There's a probably a solution for this tough that involves a toggle menu option in the preset box to "include path in preset" and that way it will save and load every time.

Getting an interesting crash here that concerns the "Media items" render target.
The project : https://stash.reaper.fm/19042/Render-Matrix-Test-5.zip (2kB)
Reproduce: - Open up the render window and pick "Selected media items".
- Select the empty item.

I'll try this soon but I guess it's because empty items have no real name?
I'll see if it still crashes when forcing a name. Good catch though. There are probably other cases like this too.
EDIT: Schwa is on it!

Devs, is it real to include take fx envelopes in Reaper? Who sees need in takes, which won't have track fx, only take fx(no track fx takes)?

Nothing important to add, but I do really like the Region Render Matrix.
It really speeds up the process of exporting tracks so they can be played live using Ableton's Session View (still praying for Reaper to get non-linear composition functionality, but this helps in the meantime).

With the addition of render matrix and "Render selected items", and "only add numbers to duplicate file names", the "export regions/stems", and other export dialogs has almost become unusable. Not sure which of those new features causes the long hang time, but it should be pretty obvious to the devs I believe. The hang can last for a full minute at this point when trying to change options or type in file name or path.
I just hope this is being worked on, because REAPER can no longer cope with thousands of files like it did previously, and I imagine there are quite a few people working with this many files. They will be in for a surprise when they discover that REAPER has insane hang time.

We'll put out a build shortly, Argitoth it would be great if you could test specifically with this project.
