Default Window 'Always On Top' pin setting not saving with session

I can't seem to get the window pinned states on my template to come back the same way twice. I pin certain windows in my template to be always on top using the 'pin icon' on the right side of the title bar next to the close window button.

For some reason each time I re-open my template the pins almost never come back the same way. Some retain their unpinned or pinned states while others randomly unpin or pin themselves.

There is also a bug with a few of the windows like my transport dock where if I unpin it, it will not allow me to re-pin it. As in, I click on the pin and it does nothing. I have to restart the program and then the pins work normally.

Feels like a bug where the window pins are not saving their state with the session file.

Not only that, but also minimizing and maximizing window unpins pins sometimes.

AFAIK pin states are global (saved to reaper-pinstates.ini in windows), and are not saved with projects, templates, etc.

For example with floating FX windows,..
1. Start new project, add track, add ReaComp, pin it, save project.

2. Start new proj, add track, add reacomp, notice reacomp is pinned. Now unpin reaComp and close project.

3. Open previously saved project, notice reacomp is not pinned.

This is one reason why I wrote Always On Top for Reaper (windows only) and don't use those Pins in Reaper anymore, its not a perfect solution either but helps me, I also deleted the 'reaper-pinstates.ini' just to make sure it doesn't go setting any pins on me!

Thank you for the reply and the custom script. I'll test later today.

Can the user specify which windows are aot and which ones remain in the background when an aot window is open in front of it?

It's not a script, its an external app, the AOT part adds a check box next to the window names you can toggle, add/remove window names as needed, see the readme in zip for hints.
