.dll file not recognized by Reaper
Hi,
I have recently bought a VST called "Birds Noise" but Reaper (64 bits version) cannot recognize the .dll file.
Firstly, I got a compressed folder that I extracted to obtain a .dll file.
I put this file in the directory where are usually stored my other VST's.
I then asked Reaper to rescan the directory.
However, when I press the FX button to load a sound, the VST "Birds Noise" does not appear in the list with the other VST's .
Why is that happening ?
Later I learned that it was a 32 bits VST, but I have other 32 bits VST's working perfectly as they are automatically bridged.
Why not for this one?
Have you already experienced such a situation?

maybe try to copy it to X86 program-file

Go to Reaper folder and find reaper-vstplugins.ini file. Open it with text editor (e.g. Notepad++) and look for the line containing the dll name. If the line consists only of these (an example) OrilRiver.vst3=00EBBAE2D5EAD201 and there is no comma and the name, then it means plugin failed to load. Maybe it is corrupted or not installed properly. Does it work anywhere else?

I just downloaded and installed the demo version, which is indeed the 32bit version, put the .dll file & the Bird Sounds folder in programs/VSTplugins & opened reaper. It appeared in the new section of the plugins list when I went to add it to a track & immediately began making bird noises.
I didn`t need to rescan the plugins or anything, so you are missing something out in your install.
Maybe watch one of Kenny Gioia`s tutorial videos on adding plugins to reaper? available at reaper.fm

I couldn't get it to show up on my internet PC but it runs on my DAW ok.
I would guess there is a requirement for a specific older runtime that I installed to the DAW but isn't on my other machine.
You could try one of the all in one installers:

Thanks Ivansc,
You were right about the bad install.
The first time I downloaded the plugin, by extracting the compressed folder I obtained the .dll file that caused my problem.
I made a second trial, I also obtained a compressed file, but this time after extraction I got 13 .sem files!
Then I followed your advice and put de 32bits files in the Program (x86) folder.
At this step, I could listen to the birds noises in Reaper.
But for recording, I additionnally had to adjust the record as input/stereo and output/stereo.
This was a difficult installation (for me) but now everything is fine.

Hi Vitalker,
I didn't make the check as you advised because I quickly realized my first install went wrong.
You were right in your analysis and the second trial got more success as you can read in my answer to Ivansc.
Everything works fine now.
Thank you.

Hi Stella645,
As you can read in my above answers, I finally solved the problem.
You were right by suggesting a failed install.
Thank you.
