I'm pretty sure this can be done. I will take a look at it. But no promises. I'm a noob.

I post as an attachement because the forum rules limit post to 10500 and I get 12249.
So it gets more and more completed. I will try to translate the latest version into the more efficient array in array code from Fabian. But not today. I'm pretty tired after helping my parents in the garden the entire day.

Guys. You forgot to implement Fabians gorgeous invert technology. This is pretty beautiful and offers a nice way to embed it more decent.

I will try to sum it up in the next version. Thanks to all of you.

Yes, good idea to change the order. But I'm starting to question the wisdom of parametric chord types. Because you can play G as 320003 or as 355433 or as x55787 or as x-11-10-8-9-8 or as 10-10-12-12-12-10.

When it's simple chords like major or minor, it's reasonable to assume that they're only played down by the nut. But not when you have maj7 and min7b5.

Also, even down by the nut, there's alternate voicings. A7 can be 002020 or 002223. Gm can be 355333 or 3x0333.

But it will never be completed. No matter how many chords we write out, there will always be something we didn't include:

sus4
sus2
aug
augM7 aka maj7♯5
augm7 aka dom7♯5
dim
dim7
dimM7
minM7
dom7sus4
dom7♭5
maj6
min6

And all these chords can have a 9th added, which can be major, minor or augmented. And then there's various 11th chords and 13th chords.

And that still gives you only one voicing.

So no matter how many chords we add, the parametric preset will never completely replace the original version of the preset, where you manually type in the fret numbers.

Of course.

You are right about chords fingering and voicing, so, perhaps we can imagine a kind of addition to create custom chords ?

For example putting variables at the bottom of the script ?

Or sometinhg more sophisticated like that : https://chordgenerator.net/#G.png?p=x2003x&f=---132&s=2 ?

It's already been done. See my version in post #21. It works like the text overlay preset. You edit the code to set #chord to the chord name and #frets to the actual fret numbers.

Is there a way to do boogies?

Standard 5 to 6 boogie in A being:

5: 57xxxx
6: 59xxxx

I took a look at the chord generator you linked to. It has a nice feature that shows the fingering of the chord. I added it to my versions in posts 21 and 22.

Often a chord has multiple possible fingerings, so this can be a contentious issue. Still, I figured it's worth adding. It's optional, leaving the #fingerings string empty means no fingerings are shown.

Just updated posts 21 and 22 to fix a small bug.

I've added the invert option.
