Default Importing jpg image and just showing white instead of image

I'm not new to reaper but I am new to making videos. I've done this a few times without problem with other images, but for some reason when I've imported my album cover the image is just showing white and when I bounce down to video there is no image at all. The image file is jpg. It's 0.99 mb. Are there any reasons why this does not work with a certain image?

Have you already tried if importing a resized copy of the image (with smaller dimensions) works?
Or saving the image in a different format like .PNG and trying to import this one.

By the way: how are you doing the import? Like, for instance, via drag & drop, via a menu, etc.

I'm using the drag and drop method. I haven't tried different formats or size yet. I have used other jpg that are larger, and smaller that have worked though.

I'll try messting about with resaving it tomorrow. Thanks for replying.

Hi Dream Of Sleeping,
could you send me an original JPG image which does not work/display correctly in Reaper?
I suspect that it may have something to do with included non-standard ICC color profile as we have had some problems at work that such images does not show correctly in Firefox (they are shown as white only).

I would like to look at it to discover the problem.
Thanks

I'm not sure how to send it to you. If I try and upload it here it won't work because it's too big. I thought I could send you the link to the photo of it on my souncloud, but when I tried saving the it from there and importing it into reaper it worked fine as expected. You could pm me your email.

Great

Yeah, I guess that the issue with the .jpg is probably related to something in the image properties then (like the color profile which akademie mentioned above).

You can try to compress the .jpg into a .zip file and attach this to a post - max. upload filesize for .zip is 1.72 MB.

OK. Importing the jpg file from the zip doesn't work here either (also just a white background).

EDIT:

After doing some quick tests:

I guess the problem might be that the .jpg has a 32-bit color depth (which might not be supported by Reaper). Resaving/Exporting the .jpg with a 24-bit color depth seems to be enough to get it working.

I can confirm, that Reaper cannot use 32-bit color CMYK images, because Reaper decodes it as RGB (you can check it in item properties), which is wrong of course. (I tested with newly created test images RGB-24-bit (works), then converted to CMYK-32-bit (does not work) to avoid any connetion to your picture, which could have also some other exotic specs than that).

So, we can use only RGB images!
