Critical Thinking : Dark Industrial Rock
This was a collaboration with an awesome bassist that was sketched out last year, but finally mixed to my satisfaction just recently.
It is a sample heavy instrumental with a definite sociopolitical stance. Critique all aspects please.

Really digging this track, suleiman. I threw it on and went about my business and before I knew it, the song had looped around a few times. It has a great, hypnotic feel to it. From a mix perspective, I wouldn't tweak a thing. Every aspect appeals to me right now. I didn't listen to the sociopolitical stance because I pretty much always ignore words and lyrics. Are those all soundclips from other works, or did you create some of those?

"I think you need a little more training"... haha, what a great line... and great voice for the part. I know that line is going to stick in my head, thank you very much. Heh.
The bass gtr part sounds great... could have more definition (3-4kHz).
The opening line, "The last thing...", is a little distorted. Might make listeners tend to click away. Maybe it's in the orig file.

I will try a 3 to 4 khz boost to the bass...
The distortion on the opening sample is intentional thru an amp sim. I'll clean it n see if it seems better

Great ending. Lots of groovy sounds. Out-of-this-world feeling.

very nice, and involving.
It sounds not so hypnotic to my ears (there are many things going on that keep my listening alert).
I feel true Clock DVA, Cabaret Voltaire, even King Crimson atmosphere...
The same discomfort I liked a lot !
Thanks
Luca

Mix-wise I think it's fine. Performance-wise it feels a little bit on the sloppy side -- it kind of meanders around the beat. Still I think it's ambitious. I guess my recommendation would be to work with the drum part a little, flesh it out a bit more. Glad I listened though. Best of luck to you with it.

Thanjs for the comments. By sloppy do you mean that the bass playing is losing tempo ?
And the drums were supposed to sound slighly robotic , kinda an industrial pounding.
I actually did not use any of my goto drum vstis and made new crazy sounding kit with reasamPlomatics.

Discovered this today. Good music. It reminds me of Throbbing Gristle meets Pain Teens. Please, post more if you have it
