Heard too much 10.000 Days this morning - here's the outcome

here's the rough instrumental recording of the inspiration from this morning's listen to Tool's album "10.000 Days".

Watcha think about the composition so far? It should not be finished yet, there's more to come after the 3rd minute!

The drums will be adjusted velocity-wise later on and I think I'm gonna re-record the guitars. But the basic sound is what you can hear now.

Has anyone got some ideas for the lyrics or even wants to collab with his/her voice? I'd really appreciate it.

Aw that's Tool! Very, very awesome.
That bass knaws at my chest and I love it.
Would love to do some vocals on this but I just couldn't do it justice. I hope someone does.

Great job on the mix too. Got that similar sound to how 10000 days is mixed to crank. Did you reference it with that album?

But for Tool albums, cant go past Undertow. The way that's mixed is another world.

Didn't mix anything so far actually.

Drums: raw Steven Slate samples.
Rhythm guitars: Waves GTR with a bit of EQ.
Lead guitars: S-Gear on one track.
Bass: yeah, quite mangled. Mainly tape saturation and JS:bassprofessor (http://jsplugins.supermaailma.net/)

No Reverbs, except on the atmo-tracks in the middle.

I'll keep you updated when he sends me his stuff.

This is a really good basis for some vocals - I can hear several places where I expect the vocal to go from a reverby woozy feel to a scream. But I would try to get the vocalist *not* to do what is expected. You have a really interesting evolution of sound and feel. Encourage the vocalist not to hide that with a formulaic approach.

I'm curious to see the direction that you take this. Keep posting.
