Markers Wildcard that reads previous marker

Can we get it to use the leading marker as wildcard. It appears that currently $marker uses the trailing marker.

When designing game audio I like to mark areas on the timeline as categories, with all audio belonging to that category being just after said marker. This would speed up my workflow a lot .

I think $marker currently uses the first marker that occurs at or after the render start time. Does it not work for you to put the marker at the start of the rendered time, rather than before the start?

Unfortunatley not. I have just tested this again and attached an image to illustrate the issue .

I misunderstood you. Yes, if the marker is inside of the region this works as intended. However, if there are many subsequent regions after said marker, they will be labelled the same as the marker ahead of them. Image to illustrate:

This may be working as intended, but it doesn't feel overly intuitive to me at least . A fix would be great for my workflow - hopefully others benefit also.

Yes, this behavior was updated in REAPER 6.78:

Render: $marker wildcard matches the first marker within the rendered time range, or latest marker before the start
