Reaper ICON Project


Hey there! I'm pro digital designer, doing it for last 10 years. I have been creating icons and themes for Reaper for years for my personal use. Today, I would like to introduce this icon set to the public. These vector-based icons are created in "200" reaper scale for high-resolution displays, but if you need different scale for your theme – let me know. I have designed most of the icons for functions that I use, so you need to make sure that they contain the specific icons you need right now. Redrawing all the icons takes a lot of time and effort for things that I myself do not use. Moreover, you can leave comments or request specific icons for future updates.



All icons were made in all 3 states by hand, and you can use them for any dark themes.




I want to start a thread here to collect feedback and have a place to discuss some ideas, find people who are as interested in customization as I am. Currently, I am working on a clean and industry-ready theme for Reaper and updates for this package. This is my passion, so I work on it only in my free time.

How to install icons
Go to Options in Reaper menu – Show REAPER resource path in explorer/finder
Copy files in to Data/toolbar_icons/200

Finally someone made a usable Icon for Reaper on macOS. Thanks very much!
The only thing is, your Toolbar-Icons are quite big compared to original ones.

Am I missing something?

They were made in the same frame size (200) as standard Reaper icons, only with thicker lines for better visibility.

Nice Icons and thanks for sharing.

Just my personal preference comments. I gravitate more towards icons with more contrasting colors and minimal use of text. When they are grouped on a toolbar, it becomes quicker to identify one button from the other. When they use one particular color and are combined with texts, I find myself having to spend more time examining and reading the button when trying to work quickly.

Wonderful idea! I hate the fact that the stock and custom icons always look like all over the place. If you can sustain this project with Patreon (just got a new subscriber ) I think it would be wonderful to create a big library with professionally looking icons over the time.

looks great. I'd love to check out your themes, too. Devs should consider to hire you for Reaper 7 theme overhaul and modernization GUI in REAPER is one of its major issues in my opinion.

Is there a way to have the icons have more distinction between on and off? I really like to have a color change so that I can see settings with peripheral vision. I worry that these icons would have me needing to take a second glance. They look really, really good though

Great work! I've also done quite a lot of UI work over the years, so its always been painful to use Reaper when I finally have some spare time to do music

One minor thing (for me) is the use of colours that could clash with whatever theme a user uses. So a monochrome option and 1-5 different colour sets (just dreaming here) would be lovely.

Looking really slick, loving the splash icon screens too. Although not sure you need the copyright text on it? I guess it helps fill in that space.

On your splash screen designs instead of the small copyright text (which isn't on the original splash), you could instead have the acronym for Reaper. Could work perhaps?

Thanks for an idea. Splash is reference to Apple design guide from Logic splash, personaly like it. And copyrights is like OFF White style element as well. Just love how it looks

Just try your icons but don't fit correctly to my reaper... I'm a PC user, 1 with a 2k screen and another with a 4k but looks the same on both.



Your spectral peaks icon is truncated
Only your last icons with a v3 in name have the right size. Is there a way to have the right size ?

But we want more icons, looks really nice, thank you !

I have more than 10 people who using it and everything is fine. I'm working on 55 inch 4k screen as well. I will check files, I made some updates couple days ago, it can be my mistake, will check asap

Are you sure you downloaded pack from me?
I don't have ANY files with "v3" in name.
I checked – all files is right. Sizes are standart reaper toolbar icons.

That's not how it works; you need to export them. Reaper draws icons at their pixel size and if available will choose from a folder of images appropriate to the user's scaling based on the 'misc_dpi_translate' (not currently described in the SDK) settings that might be in the theme. If you look in REAPER > Data > toolbar_icons you'll see the three scales that are provided, to work with the three scales that the default 6 theme expects.

I know what you talking about (100, 150 and 200)
Mine was made in 200, I was thinking this is not a problem for different scales. You think I should provide in all 3 scales?

Do what you like. But if you're only providing 200% images, you should let users know that very clearly before you take their money.

Ok so after putting the icons in the 200 folder, works great on my 4k monitor. It works fine with the 150 folder on my laptop, just a bit bigger than other icons.

Now I want more icons ah ah

Icon suggestions: spectral view, NS10 speaker icon, mono/stereo master, folder track, bus track, dynamic split, takes align (script to align takes like vocalign), item +1dB, item -1dB, drum bus, guitar bus, vocal bus etc, key bus... another idea is to have a generic 1176 or LA2A or tape...

Yes, that's what I did, I see them in the folder but not in the Reaper customisation icon menu....

The icons look great. So many good ideas for what I think to be effective illustrations of Reaper features.

Curious to see how these do at lower resolutions. All my own simplistic creations look kinda iffy if I'm not extremely careful, with me being but a total amateur graphic designer.

You can never have too many icons to choose from, if they're easy to locate. At the very least they should inspire others.
