Playback playrate information does not follow playrate map

When playing or recording, the BPM information changes to reflect changes to the tempo map. However, the playrate info does not change to reflect changes to the playrate map. If the map visibility is off or if the master track is not visible, there is no way to know that the playrate is changing.

Set Automation mode for Master track to 'Read' and playrate indicator will follow playrate envelope.

This only works if the envelop is armed. The point is that BPM, Time signature, and Rate are right next to each other on the transport bar. They seem to be informational, showing the current state at the play cursor. This is true of BPM and Time signature, but only true of playrate if the envelop is armed and not set to trim/read.
