Anyone have saved FX Chains opening as a individual VSTs?
I posted this on bug reports a week ago, got no comments. Wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this. It's kind of maddening. If no one else is getting this, any idea for a fix? I tried opening a saved FX chain and re-saving one, didn't help, even after re-opening Reaper and trying a new project with it.
Since that update, when I open any FX Chain, it also opens all the individual window. It's a hassle, I have to manually shut each of them every time.

Started after I updated to REAPER v6.77 - March 1, 2023, but I hadn't updated in a few months, so not sure when this conflict started. I updated tonight to 6.78 to see if it fixed it, it did not.
I'm on Win 10, 64 bit, SSDs, etc, 32gb ram, I7, has always run Reaper fine.

Any ideas? Thank you.
Michael.

FWIW, If I enable this option then loading a FX Chain makes all windows in that chain show as floating.
Preferences > Plugins > Auto-float newly created FX windows
Win10, REAPER 6.78

WOW! Unticking that fixed it. THANK YOU!
I never enabled that though, I'll post that on my bug report.
That made my morning.

This would indeed seem to be the case. But it only happens (at least for me) when adding the chain (or any plugin) via the FX Browser; it doesn't happen when, for example, adding them through the context menu when right clicking on a track's FX slot or FX button. (I assume that would depend on the "Auto-open FX windows after quick-add" setting, which I have disabled...)
Has this always functioned like this? I have no memory of encountering this before myself, but I have mostly used menus to add chains for some time now. I can see how this could be very annoying with FX chains containing several plugins...

See my comment above. It was ticked for me, and I never ticked it.

Oh, I have intentionally ticked it. I generally want FX windows to always open floated, not in the FX chain window. I meant I have no memory of having multiple windows from an FX chain open simultaneously when adding them like this... But maybe I just haven't been adding chains from the FX browser, I don't typically use them a whole lot...
I feel like there ought to be an option to have FX windows always open floated but not auto-open every newly added plugin...

Make a feature request.

Feature requests, especially simple ones, get fixed more often and faster than any other software I've seen.
