Translated lyrics, ruff:
1. I sit inside and can find
the path to you
Has nice doors, but no one touches
my doorbell
Walking around the circles
and habits locked on repeat
I have nice ears
but no one hears me
Prechorus
But, then I take a phone
and say: Hi, how are you?
And then I ask if you have time
we can meet whenever you want
Chorus:
You come to me
and you smile and I recognize
The little flash in the eye,
you are more than a friend
I know my heart grows
when I look at you
Yes, you're more than you can imagine to me
You come closer
and touches me and gives me a hug
And you bring forth a little bit of heaven
Yes, these things that makes me dance and laugh
So I feel alive
2.
Has big plans, but no clue
how it went
I watched TV and forgot to live
the time I got
Then there came days, with other ailments
That's how it goes
And time rolling, I'm just fooling around
..
Break:
Yes, it's good to meet you
Because you make me feel
in a colorful bubble
luminous and good
Because when your hand meets mine
Then you are a medicine
That makes me remember that once
Once I was yours

Really nice Geir My critique (and I know I'm listening to an early stage mix) is that it doesn't sound too glued together yet as whole and there are parts where it feels like the vocal is pushed back by the instruments. I'm sure you've made improvements to the mix since you made this thread though.
Looking forward to mastering it

Thanks Loz!
Yes, the points you're mentioning are not addressed in above mix.
So, I take that as "No major flaws in arrangement and tracking"

Hi Geir
Very clean production. My only thoughts are that the brass comes in a little loud over the chorus parts and if lowered perhaps the lead vocal could drop back into the mix a bit more (maybe with a touch of reverb?) Cheers

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when really starting with the mixing.

Ok,
mix should be 96% there.
https://clyp.it/w5emw4v3?token=b06b1...477985f35ec57d
Please have a listen and comment good or bad
Many elements, do you think all elements sits well and is clear enough?
Intro (first note): Does it work as is now?
All balanced, small and big?

Listened to the track with my wife, on other speakers,
and heard a few things:
1) Rhythm section needs some more punch and low end
2) Vocal eq sounds a little scooped.
3) Vocal performance lacks some energy and joy, especially in the choruses/ending(s)

Hm.. vocal eq was missing.
Had I bug with Track Inspector and DDMF IIEQpro.
That's why it sounded so strange

Cool song. I really like the vocal thing at 2:57 with the backing vocals.

Thanks for listening sammydix and Glennbo
Here's a new mix v.1.6:

I believe most issues are sorted now,
a few eq tweaks on vocal and trumpet left

Changes made a difference for the better. Now you sound like early Paul and Linda McCartney on one of the first 2 or 3 Wings albums.

Thanks sammydix! Now, If I could sound anywhere close to Paul McCartney, I'd be really happy

The mix sounds really good, every instrument has its place, nothing is stepped on or covered up. Very creative song idea, almost sounds like a show tune.

Fun song.
Overall the mix is well done. What they said above, plus, and this is a question of taste, but I'd have the snare drum less dark, more bright. Especially given the ride bell is so upfront and bright. Just a question of having them not contrast too much.
The instruments are tight and synchronized. To my ear they might be almost too tight - like things are too perfect. I don't know, maybe it's more the drum that seems programmed.
Good song. Good ear candy.

Thanks for your input RDBOIS!
I'll check out the snare-sound.
Yes, the live drums are somewhat quantized, but never 100%.
There is a lot of instruments, and I'm not a pro on either of them, so things going a little too tight is an ok trade-of.
But, as you say, of course it's a balance

Excellent work Geir, the only preference I would have maybe the drums a bit 'harder' but that's not a criticism. As others have said, you do this style [folk/pop/beatleish] really well, very enjoyable music, cheers.

Thanks a lot morgon!
I listened to the drums closer and pushed the bus-compressor a little more.
I know many mixers are really crazy about their drums. I'm more like "Oh, and there's some drums there yes"
But, for this style, getting the groove right is very important

Haha, I don't have much critique as in "this is fun", as in, puts a dorky smile on my face.
