yeah, i've seen that. 2014. here's hoping perspectives have changed.

i've dabbled with Playtime but have not had much success with it because while it emulates non-linear sequencing, it still relies on REAPER's linear, left-to-right timeline, and requires REAPER to be playing while Playtime sequences.

i'm hoping to see a novel approach to non-linear sequencing using REAPER's existing platform and strengths. my current idea, posted earlier, multiple play cursors with dedicated actions controlling them. such playheads could be track specific and time specific -- for example "play track X for N bars" etc.

these ideas aside, i just played a very successful show using 6 channel wavs consisting of stems from ~20 songs stitched together into ~5 song projects played in series as project tabs, with transitional ambient noises triggered on another VST host in between project tabs. this worked pretty well, but doesn't leave a lot of room for changing song order on the fly.

so while i'm not committed to an ableton ripoff session view, i see a very strong market for non-linear sequencing options for REAPER. project tabs could also be used in this sense -- i'd be happy with whatever the lowest hanging fruit would be

Well, you never know... but seeing how Justin does his music, I'm not seeing interest for non-linear session view a la Live any time soon. Farthest he got was making that Super8 looper in JSFX

hmm i guess justin doesn't use 98% of reaper features, meaning your assumption is vague.

his timing there was unbelievable -- he released that just as i was finishing a very involved Mobius system/launchpad map in my default project. i still need to change over to super8 since at least there's the hope of it being supported in the future

anyway it's my uneducated guess that nonlinear playback is more of a schwa thing anyway
