Default Song Featuring Benf On Piano

This is the first song on my 3rd CD, "To Be Determined" with Benf (François Benest) on piano. It's about my wife and the way she drives. Kind of a rockin' country thing.

"Baby Likes Gees"

the only thing is it says in the post heading"Benf on piano",
i've listened a couple of times coz i thought he might be shy?
but no I can't hear him???

great rockn'roll song, jeff.
but seems the piano is way too far on the right side of the mix, and quite hidden by the rythm guitar

Very, very well done country rock tune here!

I didn't really notice the title (despite the title being written in front of my eyes), and I thought you were singing "Baby Likes Cheese". I was thinking, "who doesn't?".

It doesn't stray too far from a lot of other tunes that I've heard, but that is okay because it is still upbeat, fresh sounding, fun and performed very well.

I really like the mix choice to put the guitars to one side and the piano to the other.

I think that the guitars and the piano could both be brighter. They are currently sitting low (not level-wise, but rather positionally, they are low, like closer to the ground than to my ears). Making them a bit brighter will move them up a bit to sit in a more balanced place between the bass and drums and the vocals.

I like how clear the bass is, but how far back it is sitting in the mix. That's really cool.

Good sense of depth to this mix. Any secrets to share?

I can take it or leave it.

I gave it another listen and I brightened them up a bit. 2nd mix is now available. Same link.

Thanks! No secrets, really. I like what I like.

I used parallel compression on the kick, snare and toms. Another on the bass. Another on the vocals. I rarely use it on guitars unless I think they need to be fattened up a bit but mostly I like to parallel compress only the bottom end.

Ok, made a few tweaks and Mix 3 is up. Hopefully the last mix.
