I'm proud to share this music video I put together for the first song off my recent album:
This album was a true one-man operation, with everything recorded, mixed, and mastered in our beloved Reaper. The piano plays a heavy roll in the song, so I had fun trying to mic it such that it could function as the bass in the song. The full album, "Then My Eyes Will Embrace The Advance," can be found on streaming sites under the artist "Jon Gaither," or on Bandcamp here: https://jongaither.bandcamp.com/albu...ce-the-advance
I'm open to feedback on all aspects of the song or video. Many thanks in advance to anyone who listens or watches!
Hey, nice track and cool video. I like the homespun feel imbued by the piano, and the acoustic guitar melodies were a nice touch.
If I had one suggestion, it would be to break up the arrangement with a "down verse" or breakdown of some kind before the coda - just to create some contour to the overall development.
Great song!!
I don't agree on the piano.
It got the hook, but it's too stiff (maybe the wrong word)
The problem lies on the piano playing I think.
I DO think the song is great, maybe it's just me again
Thanks @pbattersby and @msundh for the feedback on the piano. I think I kind of understand what you mean by it being "stiff." There's probably a fine line between it being the propulsive rhythm to the song and it not moving as freely as some piano parts do. But it's also good to hear that it worked as a hook. Again, much appreciated!
very clean mix and sound. Good job. I bet it was fun to make.
I could not play piano that well so u have my respect. i do think it tends to sound like a big wall of piano and the other stuff competes a bit. that being said, its kinda cool like that and if u like it, that counts.
i say keep it up!!!!! I guess i need to check out your bandcamp page.
