Default kontakt 5 glitches and cracks in the vocals

Dear reaper users, another problem appeared when I add vocals to my songs, sometimes I hear very irritating noises (cracks) when I press a key, I tryed to adjust the asio driver to a higher latency to a but this was not the problem.
I just bought komplete 10 and I normally have to ask this question on the Native Instruments forum but I can't post there for a still unknown reason (You have insufficient privileges to reply here.) if there is anyone who knows a fix for this too I would be very pleased!

thanks!

(sorry for another probably noobisch question)

Guessing that you're a Windows user, this article might help:

https://www.native-instruments.com/e...io-processing/

Regarding your NI forum issues, check if this helps:

https://www.native-instruments.com/f...website.88503/

If that doesn't help, contact NI Support ... the forum is pretty good, so it's worth it.

the first website offers good information about audio processing with an interface i'm processing audio with the audio samples of native instruments and connect my keyboard via usb .
I don't use my interface for this. I think it is a sample problem because i don't have the problem with other kontakt 5 samples only with the choirs.

And that is the source of your problem as it seems. If I understand correctly, you use a crappy onboard soundcard instead? How else can you hear what you play?

Use a good interface with good ASIO drivers instead of the Windows crap and your issues will be gone.

The NI article explains everything else being important.

PS: I use Komplete 10 with a Kontrol S-49 and a Tascam US-122 MkII instead of the onboard soundcard and don't have any issues, be it Win7 or OSX 10.10.5

ow alright I will try it right now! I have a focusrite forte but it doesn't have midi inputs.
Is it good enough to use it just as output signal?

You got it … that's exactly what counts. You still connect your keyboard by USB, as I do with my NI keyboard, and use the Focusrite just for audio output, as I do with my Tascam.

This has a further advantage, btw ... use 24 bit at 44.1 kHz for better audio quality.

I noticed, that especially the Kontakt instruments will sound much better if you not only use 24 bit (instead of 16), but also raise from 44.1 kHz to 48 or even 96. But that depends on your ears and audio equipment. I use a Beyerdynamic T90 high resolution headphone, that brutally shows audio quality, which cheap speakers can't. So using a higher frequency is not always hearable. 24 bit OTOH are a must for good recording quality.

But that is a different topic ... use the Focusrite at 24 bit and 44.1 kHz for audio output and I bet your issue will be solved.

PS: This way you just use the Forte as an external soundcard, which will sound much better and have better performance as the onboard soundcard.

it is solved ! thanks guys!

I use 96000 because 192000 is a bit overkil and not noticable by the human ear. And do you mean 24 bit in reaper?

Yes, 192 kHz is overkill, but even 96 k are overkill for some people. Most people use 44.1 for CD and 48 for film productions. I double that for audiophile productions and downsample at the end to 16 Bit at 44.1 for CDs and 24 bit at 48 kHz for DVDs / films.

Yes, it's essential for good recordings. Other than that I usually use the same settings in every Komplete instrument and in Kontrol, which is a host for the NI keyboard, but they all also have a VST, so that Reaper and the instrument surely match.

alright, pff thats my problem, I can play the piano and I have acces to a hell of a lot of sounds now but i can't even work with it lol. I didn't even know that downsampeling from 96 khz to 44.1 gives better quality than just recording in 44.1

Let's call it a journey instead of a problem ... look how complex Komplete is, how many instruments it has ... and it's only a small fraction of music production ... playing an instrument, recording it, using effects, composing a song, mixing it, etc..

Enjoy your journey

Yes, this forum is fantastic and there are tons of info here.

The Reaper community is by far the best of all DAWs.
