One more question, is there a way to separate the audio from a video that you've imported? If I want to remove parts of the audio so that I can replace it or if I want to reverse parts of the audio (e.g. reversing obscene or lewd words in a music video), how is this done?
|
Not sure if this is the best way but it will work.
Render the item as a WAV file and import that back in to the project.
Then use the volume handle on the video track and bring it down to -inf.
Now you have an audio track and a video track.

That makes sense, thanks Kenny.

Wow. I watched all of these this morning and tested with a project I've been working on--some of this stuff is amazingly helpful (to me, at least). Stretch markers just blew my mind a bit.
Thanks again! I'm looking at the other videos you've got now too!

How amazing would it be to have videos like these with every update, instead of a long list of cryptic update points!
Bravo Kenny. Looking forward to the next one!

*sniff*
Do you mind to put them on YT or something else?

Kenny, why not use youtube? You can make the video unlisted if you want.

Kenny, I'm security head at AVID HQ!
This is not very nice, you are converting loyal followers using amazing free videos!
Our market share seems to be dropping due to this attitude of yours!!!
Stop this sorcery!
PS - AVID has only licensed me with a water pistol, but I WILL use it if necessary!

Sorry guys. Woke up this morning and just about to post the "Stretch Markers - Drums" video and noticed this issue.
At least I know that my work was being appreciated and that Dropbox does have it's limits.
I'm going to look into a better option. My only issue with youtube is the size and quality of the videos. I don't want to compromise and I would like people to be able to download as well.
I'll keep you posted.
Sorry again.
Thanks for the support.

Hey Kenny!
Thanks for doing these videos, they are really awesome and I can't wait to grab the new ones
Have you thought about Vimeo?
The streaming quality is great and download is possible.

Though I am a big vimeo fan, youtube should have more than enough quality assuming you upload at full quality unless something has changed recently.

Interestingly enough, WMV HD produces pretty good YT quality. After trying various mp4 codecs I, settled on WMV HD. With my turtle slow upload speed, AVI is out of the question for me.

I don't keep up on these things. I just know that most of the tutorials I've seen on youtube that are screen capture look terrible. Maybe that was the uploader's fault.
I'll look into it.
Thanks

Can they be uploaded on to the REAPER stash?
Or do you need to restrict the access at some point in the future?
Just an idea...

I don't think I need to restrict anything but does the stash have size and bandwidth limits?

I don't know, that's why it was posed as a question, I haven't used it myself.
I've got hosting, but I don't know if how many GB/month I'm limited to. Do you know what limit the dropbox account folded at..?

200GB per day.
I also have a hosting service that claims "unlimited" bandwidth but I guarantee they'll suspend my account as well.
Just tried Vimeo and it won't post the video for another 35 minutes. You have to wait in line.
It's posted on youtube but it looks really blurry to me. Not proud to share it.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks

Yep, that's quite a bit. Approach Justin and ask, it is for the benefit of the users after all. I presume that he'll have a relatively robust set-up, it can't hurt to ask.
We need a drop-box account per video....

can you download it?
No good to me if it's stream-only, my studio machine and TV are not internet connected. Thanks for trying.
Edit: Looks blurry to me. It was nice while it lasted.

Vimeo quality is good to me! And Kenny your tuts just rule!
Thank you a lot, they allow me to learn the new features very fastly and efficiently, and realize what Cockos did for the new version

Not loving the Vimeo or Youtube thing.
I will contact Cockos tomorrow and get something worked out.
Also, I'll get a few Midi videos out this week as well.
Thanks guys.
