custom workstations for studio daw use
hello:
i am in the process of replacing an older mac pro with an updated daw workstation. at this point most any current system should be an upgrade, but i have narrowed the boxes to three manufacturers. i hope that anyone who has any experience or thoughts on any of the three might be able to help me make my decision. i am asking everywhere and anyone that i can for thoughts on these.
the three manufacturers are digitalstorm.com, pcaudiolabs.com & apple.
digitalstorm- mainly a gaming shop, but they do cater to workstations, too
* i9-7920X, 12cores @2.9ghz, 32gbram @3kmhz, 1tb ssd
* xeon W-2155, 10cores @3.3mhz, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd
pcaudiolabs- caters specifically to audio users
* i9-7900x, 10cores @3.3mhz, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd
apple- the imac pro is likely the offering here, but specs arent clear
* i9/xeon, 8cores @unknown mhz, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd
i am also considering waiting to see the new macpro offering, if/when...
the mac will likely be at least $1000 more than the other two manufacturers, but will have a 5k display in its offering. the other two do not include monitor. the benefit of the imac pro is out-of-the-box quiet and composed. the other two offer expand ability (drives, etc.) that the imac doesnt.
thanks in advance,
j
