Default reaper 5.981 ARA2 Vocalign crashes

Hello, I'm encountering "random" crashes when using Synchro Arts - Vocalign Project 3 (v 3.6.1.2) with the latest Reaper 5.981/x64.

To describe the context: I have multiple Vocalign instance on several tracks (let's say 4 guides and 4 overdub tracks).
Crashes seems to occurs randomly when changing the cursor position.

You'll find in attachment the "Window Error Reporting" file related to this crash in event viewer.

The crash report shows it's their plugin crashing, so you should report this to them (even if the crash is REAPER's fault, they will be better able to tell what's going on). If you are able to find steps that reproduce the crash every time, we can look from our side, but the crash report will only be useful to them.

Yes I've read that too and also reported it to them.
But since the ARA2 support in reaper is still young I thought it may help to report it here too in case of the problem would be caused on your side for some reasons.

I'm not sure but it seems it has stopped crashing when I started using only two instances (one for the guide and one for the overdub) instead of many at the same time. I'll make some other tests to be able to confirm it.

Many thanks for reporting this issue.
I have been trying to respond to the email I think you sent to support@synchroarts.com on Monday morning, but all my replies were rejected from your email server because of "Security or policy settings."

I have tried to reproduce the issue on a test system with 6 active instances of VocALign Project, but I could not get Reaper 5.981 to crash by moving the cursor position, no matter how wild I went. However, one of our Developers has reviewed your report and he thinks he has something you could try.

Could you email support@synchroarts.com again and provide a different email address, or edit the Security or policy settings for your address, so my replies can reach you, please?

Many thanks!

Hello _ceone
Many thanks for your email yesterday.
I must point out that I never had any issues sending email replies before, but I have asked our IT Team to look into your suggestions and I am now standing by for their comments. Hopefully I will know more later today.

In the meantime, using only 2 instances of VocALign Project is a good workaround - in fact, one of the questions in my email replies was, why do you leave multiple instances of VocALign Project open? Usually, after completing alignment, one commits/bounces the aligned audio, removes VocaLign Project and moves on.

Kind Regards,
Renato | Customer Support Specialist | Synchro Arts

In fact I left multiple instances just because it was possible to let them like that in the interface. It was a try as i was discovering the ARA2 feature, I was aware that it was not the optimal use case for performance but I just wanted to process all my vocal track before bouncing the changes.
I totally agree that the "correct" (or at least the usual) way to do is to use only 2 instances and commit immediately after. But I tend to think anyway that using it otherwise should not provoke crashes.

Best regards.
