Default EZ drummer 2 makes Reaper freeze while loading

Hey, title says it all. It seems to be a known issue since I have read several messages about it but none of them actually gave a fix. Has anyone found a solution to this issue or do we just have to live with it and keep on closing and reloading?

How up to date is your EZD2? Are you using Toontrack Product Manager to administer it?
Be worthwhile seeing if there are any updates to apply.
Hard for me to see if I have the same issue,as I use all SSD disks and there is the briefest of lulls while the actual kit loads after I put EZD on a track. If this is all you are seeing, it is a necessary function of the samples being loaded into reaper off disk. And of courswe the bigger the kit, the longer the load time, although even the mega kits in SD3 dont take THAT long.

Windows, Reaper and EZ drummer are on a SSD drive too and my PC is decent (i7, 16 Gb RAM). It's not a speed issue, when I say freeze it does freeze, meaning nothing happens no matter how long I wait. I have to force close Reaper and load it again, then it launches normally.

Ans yes I do use the Toontrack Product Manager and everything is up to date. This has been an ongoing issue through several updates.

Are you running an AV program?
Have you told it what to ignore?

I beta for toontrack & you might find it easier to get somewhere if you talk to them on their user forum.
Although with so many of us NOT having this issue, it may still wind up being some weirdness on your particular setup.

Which EZX is EZD loading at startup?
Have you tried it on any alternates?

Will do, thanks. I thought it was a common problem as I found several threads about it on this forum and elsewhere (but no solutions).

EZ drummer 2 Modern / Basic is loading by default. How do you change that?

You manually select what you want once the EZD is up and ready to roll.

I just checked and using a 7200rpm hard drive in my i7 4770 with 16gb of ram It took just under ten seconds to load the EZD2 standalone & the basic kit.
You wont get much better than that without SSD drives and a faster processor.
Now when I loaded the standalone, I watched the "load" bar in EZD2 run smoothly all the way from nothing to kit fully loaded.

Like I said earlier, might be worth running it past the guys at Toontrack as well.
I cant think of anything that would cause the issues you are seeing. Is this happening with the standalone as well as when you load it into reaper as a vsti?

I forgot to mention that the issue only appears when Reapers starts and directly tries to load a previous project that includes EZDrummer. In a project, loading EZ drummer is flawless and takes a couple seconds (runs from an SSD).

I dont use the standalone module.

I have tried different things and it hasn't occurred again. Will keep you updated if it does.

Thanks for your help!

forgot to say if you want something different to load at startup, just save your project with whatever kit you want on startup and it will load that from there on in.
