Default Desktop Mic Stands

Anybody use these for anything? If so, what do you have or what can you recommend? I'm thinking that some of my voice work, in fact most of my voice work, could be done with a desktop stand rather than a boom. The fact that my boom is getting pretty worn out after 15 years has a lot to do with it as well.

I would probably use various mic's with it but mostly a Shure SM7b.

Thanks!

I have a couple, but only ever use them to mic kick drums.

I've had good luck with this brand

Tried them hanging from the ceiling (anglepoise lamp type) which I found got in the way too much even when adapted to clamp to a tabletop, and all sorts of desk or floor standing ones.
K&M make a very nice small boom stand that works great for desktop use AND getting in the right place for mic`ing kick drums and guitar cabinets.

I imagine they would be great if you ever found a singing gardem Gnome, too...

I actually have one of these but it's not short enough. When I add the mic, it points to my forehead... maybe I'm just too tall...

This is the one I ended up getting. I used my rewards points so it didn't cost me anything and shipping was free. The stand is all metal, very sturdy and it works wonderfully for what I want to do with it. And it even came with a mic clip and as well all know, you can NEVER have too many mic clips!

I give it *****

Looks great for the money.
Is it going to have enough spread on those legs to cope with the size & weight of an SM7b though?
May have to buy some micro sandbags for the legs...

Come to think of it, you could build an entire micro-studio-ette around it!

Like the model villages all the really naff seaside towns in the UK who have no real natural attractions build to attract gullible tourists....

I have one of those - really like it and that it folds up for my mobile setup. I have another one which is really for kick drums on a flexi stand but as someone said, it's a bit too high.

Works perfectly with the SM7b, Ivan. No tipping problems at all. It's the perfect desktop stand for that mic.
