# Automation Items: config import/export support
# Automation Items: create AutomationItems subdir on first save [p=1871455]
# Automation items: LFO phase zero corresponds to envelope center value
# Automation items: fix frequency skew calculation when applying phase offset
# Automation items: fix unnecessary edge points when gluing
# Automation items: hopefully fix edge point behavior (retaining existing point shape, not creating unnecessary points)

Hmmm... maybe not yet?
- Turn on "Automation items connect to underlying envelope on right side".
- Create a point
- Adjust the point
- Create an AI to the left side of the created point
The point is now connected with a square, even though all existing point shapes still are labelled as 'linear'.
I would expect the right-side shape to be configurable in the AI or to match the shape of the right-most point.

- Turn on "Automation items connect to underlying envelope on both sides"
- Create 2 points
- Create an automation item between those 2 points
- Glue automation item
After the glue operation, a new point appears on the envelope on the right side.
No new point on the left side
Expected behaviour would be no points added to the underlying envelope at all I think.

- Turn on "Automation items do not attach to underlying envelope"
- Create 2 points
- Create an automation item between those 2 points
- Glue automation item
The envelope inside the AI disappears.
If you move the AI right before the glue step, it works fine.

- Create AI
- Create Overlapping AI
- Select both AIs
- Glue
A single AI is created with no envelope.
Expected behaviour would be either:
The overlapping AIs are individually glued but stay overlapping items.
OR
The overlapping AIs envelopes data are combined to a single AI that spans the total length of all AIs.

No matter what you set the Square LFO phase too, it will always connect to the same place on both sides.
- Turn on "Automation items connect to underlying envelope on both sides"
- Create 2 points
- Create an automation item between those 2 points
- Set AI to Square LFO
- Adjust phase
Despite the visual indication, there's no way to make the envelope connect to the draw square wave. The underlying envelope always connects to the peak value or the trough value on both sides.
Expected behaviour:
At phase 0 the underlying envelope connects at min value on the left, and max value on the right.
At phase 50 the underlying envelope connects at max value on the left, and min value on the right.

I'm not sure if this was a misinterpretation of the requested starting phase for the square wave, or a joke (which is rather funny if so)
- Create an AI
- Set it to Square LFO
All of the LFOs default to spanning min and max values. The Square envelope does not.
The only way to make it do so is Baseline: -100 and Amplitude: 200, which makes those parameters a bit useless.
Expected behaviour:
This seems to coincide with a post I made: https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...0&postcount=19 which is evidently a terrible way to phrase the request.
I was trying to request that the Square LFO begins at the transition between min/max values, which would result in "Automation items connect to underlying envelope on both sides" connecting both sides at 0 until the phase is adjusted. This is clearly a bad idea.
I did not consider how complex this situation is clearly. It would probably be confusing for users to have to adjust phase to make the points connect as drawn.
So... basically, please ignore my previous suggestion after you fix this Oops.

That square wave has validity (it can alternate just between baseline and max OR min, depending on Amplitude amount), it was what I suggested as an ADDITIONAL square wave mode. But not a replacement.
Square should definitely go between min and max by default. But we should also have this alternative square wave. Let's call it unipolar square?

#1) When mouse is over blank arrange area the cursor changes to same cursor used for marquee select.
#2) Left mouse + drag in arrange area is acting like marquee select.
#3) In v5.40 ~ 5.50_RC11 I can make a time selection by holding down left mouse button and dragging in empty arrange area, this no longer works in RC12 , although it does work if I also hold down the control key.
#4) AutomationItems folder created on first save OK, but the AIs aren't seen in the AI load menu until I restart RC12, after that though new saves and previous saved AIs are seen in AI load menu.
#5) AutomationItems folder still not saved to export configs.
RC12_x64 / Win7_x64
ARE WE THERE YET?

I kind of agree here that it's useful but it seems like a shape that you would normally get by using the settings?
In fact, just tested it here and it seems that setting the baseline to 50 and the amplitude to 50 too, you get this same shape so this seems like a bug for sure.
Ah, just re-read and you do kind of agree that it's because of the baseline.

I just tried in a new portable 5.50rc12 install and I do not get this behaviour. macOS.
Right drag still works as marquee select for me, and left drag selection works fine.

Are they supposed to show in the load menu? That would explain the weird Load->Load menu I guess.
That didn't work in RC9-11 either even with the correct folder. Still doesn't here.

schwa/Justin - is it REALLY hard to add drag&drop support for saved AIs from Media Explorer at this RC point (seeing as you added support for AIs to be stored with import/export settings...)?

+1
Personally, I hate having to use file dialogs unless necessary in the macOS Reaper. They load slowly for some reason and cause playback glitches.
As much as I hate drag&drop, it works way better in the mac Reaper version.
(and obviously everything else works for drag&drop...)
