Default How can I input a streaming audio and record in Reaper?

I should know this but have been away from Reaper (and tracking altogether) for a few years. I can't seem to locate an answer with a search. On my laptop I'd like to record some streaming audio to Reaper and the only source I can seem to access is the computer's onboard mic. How would I source the audio from my soundcard to Reaper? I'm on Linux but could jump over to WIN if it's easier.

If using Jack with native Linux REAPER: connect the streaming application's outputs (or ALSA or PulseAudio sink) to any of REAPER's input ports.

Right now I'm running Reaper in WINE but if native is really getting up to speed I'll start using that. I'm just getting back into tracking and I'd sure prefer to keep it in Linux. Thanks.
