Default Good, cheap, low latency, output only interface

Hi

I'm looking for a good, cheap, output only interface for my wifes pc so she can play vstis.

It doesnt NEED inputs, (although it could have them), it just needs ASIO, <6 ms latency at 44.1khz, USB and NOT M-AUDIO!

I'm tired of the m-audio crapola about not supporting sleep..... So any ideas?

DF

(I'm also open to suggs about recording interfaces that have low latency and actually support sleep properly so I can punt on my FTU)

Yes I've tried ASIO 4 All.

Not happy with onboard audio....if I play the 20k-2khz sweept from audiocheck.net (definitely a nice test) it warbles like a mofo on the built in audio...

Also I disagree with the other poster regarding sleep; sure an audio system shouldnt sleep by itself, but sleep/hibernate on command should still work.

This energy wasting leave it on all the time or time wasting reboot and shutdown is apologist nonsense for the bad driver writers at m-audio.

No driver should BSOD on resume from sleep like m-audio does.

I have the Native Instruments Traktor Audio 2 (aka. Audio DJ 2). It has two stereo outputs (e.g. for headphones and monitors) with separate volume knobs. Runs great for me here at 128 samples latency (6.8ms), but frankly I haven't even tried to get any lower yet. The lowest setting is 32 samples (4.5ms), but I doubt the responsiveness would become tangibly better - it's already great.

My system:
Intel i7 2600k
16 GB RAM
Win 7 64bit

So, performance is great, I haven't had any stability issues and it is quite affordable (I paid 95€). I can highly recommend it.

Really? I usually found todays on-board audio chips to be superb. Measured with http://audio.rightmark.org/download.shtml for a run of the mill RealTek chip you get: http://strony.aster.pl/ro_beri/rmaa/...C269_24_44.htm

Besides it's only for the wife, she ain't gonna notice!
