Audio quirks with ASIO and WaveOut

Is anyone else running into this? I think it's a Windows issue - If I save a project using Save-As in Reaper, WaveOut will suddenly stop working, so Reaper will play with no sound. I then go into Settings and change the audio to ASIO, the speakers will click a few times, then I change the audio back to Waveout, hit OK, then I'll get one final click on the speakers, and Waveout works again. I'd use ASIO all the time but it makes Reaper unstable and causes random crashes whereas Waveout has remained stable. I know Windows 11 has some Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) stuff going on (like, sometimes windows will mute audio output on its own) so don't know if anyone has found a workable solution. It's not a deal-breaker, just annoying

That clicking sounds typical of sample rate switching issues.

Try to make sure the SR is set the same in the Windows audio settings as you have in Reaper. (And check both playback and recording rates)

Ahh, good call! I checked and sure enough, Windows was set at 44.1kHz, and Reaper is set to 48kHz. I just set Windows to 48Khz. Hopefully, that fixes the issue!
