Default .948 yipee!

Couple of goodies in this release, like the long awited ctrl+drag to copy. Better pasting in the midi editor, as well.

YAY!

Kind of funny, somebody on Freewarefiles complained that new vesions are coming out too fast. What a dumbass, well at least he rated it a four.

I'm amazed at the bad reviews are these people stupid?

To each his own, I suppose. I do know that when I show people Reaper, it usually starts with something like "It doesn't LOOK that great.", but usually ends with a big resounding "WOW! It'll do THAT!?"

People just never cease to amaze me.

How about stability, functionality, workflow... No, forget it that kind of stuff isn't important.

As long as it looks cool that's all that really matters.

God help us.

0.948 = 895,85 KB. Holy shit, that is a major insult to audio software designers, Justin, I hope you know what you're doing

And by the way, REAPER looks great, if you ask me, as great and straightforward as this software is.

re....bloat.
to me haveing coded too many biz apps in my life i applaud less bloat. where i come from we always applauded the guy who could accomplish something with less bloat. In fact we used to have
beer contests where the guy who could code in less bloat was the winner.
unfortunately too many programmers today dont seem to care.
they just tell the users buy more memory etc.
thus its refreshing to find the old art of less bloat alive and well in justin/reaper.
i smell...lol....assembler techniques here. if so its all good.
all hail the reaper.
you can do wonderfull things in assembler. like keep application bloat down. there is even an interesting new OS called menuet thats coded in all asm. Quite an achivement considering it includes a proper GUI and is re-entrant and fits on a floppy last time i looked.
Think about it. Instead of windows You load up say a 3 meg
installer consisting of the whole OS and reaper.
now THATS EXCITING !...lol.
check out menuetos.org sometime....and the quake/doom screenshots lol.

Here's an idea - you know there are versions of Thunderbird and Firefox etc that run entirely on thumb drives / usb keys? Perhaps that would be possible with Reaper as it's so small, such that you could take the program and preferences and help and everything around on such a device, and on a 1gig drive you would have a fair bit of space for some audio too, esp if compressed - then just plug in wherever you happened to be, and off you go?

Thanks for the CNT drag copy Justin - cool!

Cheers
Jed

PS Are there plans to implement DXi/VSTi song position pointer sync at some stage? I tried to run FLStudio as a DXi and it was no go

SPP support will be in someday.

BTW, except for the Jesusonic plug-in stuff, there is actually VERY little (next to none) assembly code in REAPER. Just good ol' C++.

well heck justin. you must be a C++ guru then lol.
what the heck were the other C++ audio coders doing all these years bloating up audio apps ??
art...i would love that baby OS plus reaper idea on a thumb drive.
i bet todays lower power pc's with no windows just the reaper with its own baby OS would run like a bunny rabbit.
cos no windows. people prolly wouldnt need amd dual cores just an amd 64 single processor running reaper with its own baby OS and throw in a gig of ram and maybe a couple of 16mb cache hard drives or a raptor,
and your laughing while recording for years.

for laughs i threw reaper on an old amd duron pc here i use for the net. just 1.3ghz but with fast hard drives.
runs like a champ.

Cntrl+drag copy....love it, thanks J.

Although my excitement is somewhat dampened today, a project Ive been running for days, is now crashing reaper left and right, any adjustments I make and then press play gives me instant desk top, I haven't tried unchecking the fx worker thread dooda, so I'll give that a try.

brummm...splutter...brummm...

Fantastic work Justin & Co!

As of today, I have 60 updates on my HD now and I'd pretty well tried out most of them. Some astute people here jumping on the bugs as they come up has helped a lot as well.

Yes, its amazing too that this has all been done in C++, given the features on offer and how efficiently it uses system resources. The whole deal weighs in @ 2.87 MB uncompressed. Small Is Beautiful.

I've been using Reaper from time to time for remote recording off a laptop with the multitrack zoomed and the meters pulled full screen height so I can see everything from a few metres back. Its been great for making fast edits on the go as well. All good.

I'd mentioned this a few months back, but wavpack support at some stage would be nice to see (via Consolidate/Export). Even better if Reaper could record/encode wavpack in real time (via Ctrl+Alt+B). Reaper could be the first to do this.

Regards,

Andre

The authors of Reaper and Wavpack are I know aware of each others' developments. Hopefully this will bear fruit down the line, depending on Justin's priorities.
