+1. I use the count-in all the time. Having it misfire throws me off my rhythm.
It's not totally random though... Looks like it's linked to the gridline. it always starts at a measure grid line. I've set countint = 2 measures. I get 9 beats when I place the edit cursor 1 beat after a measure grid line(see attached screenshot).
If I place the cursor 2 beats off, I get countin 6 beats. If I place it 3 beats off the measure line, I get 7 countin beats. If I set it on a measure line, then countin gives me the correct number of beats. Go figure
But it's cool, I know the guy's will get to it sooner or later. Sooner would be much appreciated.

To me this is not a mere nitpick as much as a full blown bug!
My daw can't count

Well it is a bug, and can be annoying, but it's not major. It doesn't make the program crash or prevent recording or mixing, Reaper just can't count to 4.

Every sufficiently smooth function on an interval can be expressed as an infinite sum of sines and cosines of various frequencies and amplitudes. It is analogous to the fact that you can approximate irrational numbers as the sum of a bunch of rational numbers (that's what a decimal expansion of an irrational number is, after all).
Writing a function as a sum of sines and cosines is called a Fourier series. Your ears do Fourier series automatically ie: There are little hairs in you ears, called cilia, which vibrate at specific (and different) frequencies. When a wave enters your ear, the cilia will vibrate if the wavefunction "contains" any component of the correponding frequency. Because of this, you can distinguish sounds of various pitches.

Try to raise awareness by talking about this bug in early beta threads or Release Cadidate threads...
Try http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=27233 for example...
Could be funny.

The Bible devotes some 500 verses on prayer, less than 500verses on faith, but over 2000 verses on money and possessions.

The blue whale can produce sounds up to 188 decibels. This is the loudest sound produced by a living animal and has been detected as far away as 530 miles.

Yes but this is under water and since water has different properties as air it isn't as impressive as it sounds .
BTW still no fix for this?

A pipe organ was the loudest sound that could be made in the year 1600.

I'm getting the timing "willies" too at the start of a song. My head is bopping along waiting to hit that first note after 8 clicks, then all goes wobbly. I fall off my chair and lose consciousness, waking up to see the playback at bar 32438.3.0.
Okay, that last part is a lie, but the count-in out of time thing is a problem. Either there should be a metronome that works, or none at all. Something like that is not a feature but a necessity.
P.S. I also only get 6 clicks if I start recording at say "bar 25.3.0". I know it's polite, but the setting is for 8 clicks, then I should have to count the half bar to get to the next one for myself.

[I do love this app. though. And I know that Digital Performer 6 still has glitches that were present 2-3 years ago...so whattaya gonna do? Just push play!]

Hmm if I place cursor at 2.3 and set count in to one measure, it starts play back from 2.1, so I get 2 clicks then at 2.3 itself it sounds like the metronome is actually playing twice very close together... scrunch.
Surely the count-in in this case should still be 4 beats, starting from 1.3?

Still no fix for this bugger?
Surprising, since this is a major issue.
(add a declick / pop removal feature and we'll finally have a usable metronome)

Count-in timing issue seems to be fixed in 2.55pre1 but this display 'issue' isn't.

I installed 2.55 and I'm still getting wrong count-in. Is there something wrong with my metronome settings?
