Also, if you read the post above yours, witti explains this.

EDIT: If I was a little confusing, I'm sorry. All of his Apollo themes operate "normally" (The meter shows up with sends, fx parameters, etc visible) now. Go to Post #292 to get the newer version of the simple version.
I think you misunderstand me. I know that this theme is supposed to be simple and elements will appear and disappear automatically when resized, which I think is great. The problem i'm having is that none of this happens when the MCP is docked at the bottom and either sends or parameters are enabled (but behaves fine when just inserts are enabled). I don't believe this is what the intended behavior is. If so, than why is the behavior different when only the inserts are enabled versus only the sends or parameters being enabled?

I have tried the latest version uploaded on the stash (10/20/13) as well as the link in post #292 that you mentioned. Both behave the same in regards to what i'm talking about.

It's the same with the sends.
I usualy only need the inserts.

So i created a layout using 'mcp_wantextmix' in the rtconfig file.
'mcp_wantextmix' is a condition you can use to change something in the layout by enabling/disabling the inserts/sends/fx parameters.

'mcp_wantextmix' is also used in the tcp and master tcp. So when you disable/enable the mcp fx parameters, you also hide/show the fx parameters in the tcp.

I also use 'tcp_iconsize' in the mcp, tcp and envcp.
I use this for better aligning all the elements when track icons are used.
This was new to me, and i think this is the first theme which uses this.
Hey, sorry for being obtuse about this. Your explanation about your workflow makes complete sense. I understand what you're going for and I was just hoping to provide some constructive criticism based on my personal use. Feel free to ignore me though. It's your theme and you should obviously do whatever works for you.

My issue is specific to smaller displays and not the theme overall, which is excellent. My preference is to always have sends and inserts enabled in the MCP, which I was hoping to do and still be able to see the vertical meter layout. I've tried the theme on larger displays and everything works beautifully. I can have the MCP docked and both inserts and sends enabled and still see the full meter display. However, I cannot duplicate this on my smaller 11" macbook air. The MCP is stuck in the 'miniature' view because the laptop display is not large enough to stretch out the MCP (I know I can disable sends to fix it, but like I said, my preference is to always have sends and inserts enabled). Again, this is only an issue on my small laptops display and for my workflow. Everything works exactly as I would like it to on larger displays.

This is ultimately not that big of a deal so sorry for the confusion. I just thought you might want some feedback since you seem pretty diligent about constantly developing this theme. I really appreciate all the hard work you put in and I personally feel this is the best theme out there by a large margin. It's contributed a lot towards helping me transition from other DAW's to Reaper.

Hey,
In Apollo - not apollo simple.

Any chance of bringing back one of the mcp layouts with empty?
I'm using a control surface (mcu) and don't want to waste a track as a separator, but it really helps visually
The empty part does not need to be very wide - just enough for a visual separation.

"empty default" would be great, please consider this.

Thank you,

I love how you keep refining this theme... Soon there will be nothing left to do!

I know you said you deleted the other versions... I did not go looking for them.
Are Apollo A, B and C still in the stash?
I still have much use for the A layouts.
If they are not in stash, any chance I can get you to send me the last incarnation of them? The one with most of the empty_x mcp layouts?
OR to post the last most recent version?

Also - is there a switch (some setting in the walter file) to put the level indicator numbers on the meters?

EDIT: Yup - can't find the old ones.
Seems a shame to loose all those great layouts, you worked so hard on.
I miss them, I need them. Maybe they are lurking in some download folder on this computer...Nope - all I can find is Apollo_C.

EDIT2 - Ok I found an old version of Apollo_A_light - it has most of the layouts I need.
How do I add the scale to the meter on the layouts, please?

Thanks for the code - I will try that tomorrow.
Re: new versions look great and thanks for the hard work.

Re: missing the files ...
I think your previous advice to delete past versions lead me to believe
there would be older incarnations still available. I deleted them, most if them.

I should have kept with my usual mindset - get it while you can, there is no tomorrow.
So missing them - your thread covers a lot of ground including several incarnations of this theme.
I think it would be good to still have the older versions in the stash for ppl, like me, to try, use and learn. They are very good. i have enjoyed watching the evolution. I just find my preferences lean toward the increased flexibility of layouts in the older a,b,c versions. However, they are yours to do with as you will.
The old adage - you never miss something until it's gone, applies for me
Please consider putting them back, it adds a continuity to the thread as well.

what i liked most about apollo is that it had a volume-knob in the trackPanel even in the smallest vertival size ...

seems that this is gone so i stick with the old Apollo_B version.

Thanks for developing it though!!! <3 <3 <3

Where are the Master VUs settings found?
I have never seen this, and also what part of the process is the Fenstertext part cover?
The language isn't a problem just the screens and where I find these.

I am on a PC and have a feeling these are Mac tweak but hopefully I am wrong.

The horizontal TCP layout is really nice.
I learn from reading others rtconfig.txt while studying White Tie Walter pdf.
and try not to ask questions.
But the Master Track VU thing was just another cool surprise and reminder before posting, we should always right click......

Thanks Witti.

Default Apollo Dark Mod!

Hello!

I am fairly new to Reaper. Maybe like 4 weeks. I really liked witti's theme, but not all things where exactly the way I wanted. So I modded it to my needs. Anyways... Let me share it with you.

Yeah, its not the latest version. Ill look into that and see how dramatic the changes are. But thats it for now. Any more changes would require quite a bit of work.

I might be willing to design one if theres someone who wants to code it

Love this mod! One thing i've noticed though is that the SWS color file doesn't match up with the custom color toolbar icons. Any chance you could share a updated color file with the correct colors? I dig the color scheme you are using.

From what I can see you are missing the font. You have to install the haxcorp font.
Also replace the original EDs toolbar icons with mine + use the custom color palette.

Hi witti, thanks for this theme!

It suits my needs and workflow (and taste) better than any other out there.
Stylistically, I love its balance between the professional looks, the usability and the artistism. For me, it's in the sweet spot!

I also appreciate a great deal how it handles resizing.

The only thing that's missing for me is folder indentation in the MCP. When you have tens of tracks organized into multiple folders and folders inside folders, it's pretty exhausting to try to understand what's going on in the MCP without this indentation. I went through pretty much all the available popular themes, and the only one I found doing this is Symbiosis, like in this screenshot:
https://stash.reaper.fm/19773/Symbiosis%20MCP.jpg

Overall however, I like your theme much better, so I'd love to see this kind of indentation ported into it...

Thumbs up for your great work!

Frankly, that's the answer I expected, but there's no harm asking, right?

At least it has these colored thingies in the MCP indicating where folder starts and where it ends. This yet makes the mixer more clear than most themes.

It has some inconsistency, though, as it would only show the "closing" (red) thingie when the track is hand-set as "last track in folder". I personally forget or do not bother to set this "last track in folder", as (at least, as far as I can tell) it has no effect on the actual processing. So wouldn't it be better if this red thingie would appear on the last track in folder, regardless of if it's manually defined as "last track" or not?
Provided this is technically possible at all.

then the 'last' folder icon in the tcp/mcp appears automatically.

The folder button in the tcp actually is a cycle button. It cycles through: track is a track, track is a folder or track is last track of a folder (and last track of which folder actually).

So a themer has not really influence on this.
I might be doing something wrong, as I'm fairly new to Reaper, but unfortunately sometimes the track is technically the last track in folder, but it does not have this setting unless I manually define it, like the Kick track in the attached screenshot. That's when the red thingie also doesn't show in MCP on this actual last track.

Obviously, I do not expect the theme to do anything to my tracks, but I'd like it to reflect their state. Here, functionally the Kick track is the last track in folder Drums, but it doesn't look like this in the MCP. The fact that this is not reflected in the TCP doesn't matter as much, because it has the correct indentation there. This might be a bug in Reaper, but maybe it's possible to work around in theme?

You're right! The last track in this folder was a hidden track. That solves the riddle. I wonder if there is a way to discard the hidden and muted tracks from affecting the reflected folder structure? This is not an issue of great importance, but nevertheless...

I'll try to suggest discarding hidden & muted tracks from affecting the folder structure as a feature request for Reaper. There hasn't been much action or feedback for my other feature request, so I'm not sure if anyone is even looking at them, but I'll give it a chance...

Hey witti,

I wonder if it is hard to position the track icons not on the top. Rather in the middle? I'd prefer having it closer to the track names.

Too bad. If you'd take the new Solaris SSL theme and put an icon above the track name it would be perfect!

Hello Witti and everybody!!

I was fooling around with screeensets and toolbars and something happened with the icons but only in Apollo (latest update and apolloB as well) all other themes are ok.

The text in text icons became squashed.
Also one of my icons suddenly became a mini icon ??

Any idea why somebody ?

In latest Apollo theme this how the layouts are.
You are probably referring to the pics I posted and they are of an older version of Apollo called Apollo B.

Now although there are reasons why I prefer the older theme, I work a lot from the TCP (Everything available on minimized TCP with Vertical Meter Layout - Record,Monitor,Input,Input FX,Meter,Volume, Master, Send, Receive,Pan,Envelope,FX, FX Bypass and Phase - )

There are very few themes (If there is one ??) that offer complete options from minimized TCP wich makes it easier for me to work with 50+ tracks not having to expand and collapse layouts all the time.

I think this is one of Apollo's strengths.

The latest Apollo version is bug free since it's updated on a regular basis.

In latest Apollo I really dig the V4 and separator layout for MCP it's very neat. Also metering is better.

We are still waiting for the Messi...
