Default Totally unexpected copy & paste...

This cannot be right, can it...?

I shift+click to select two tracks A and B, and hit Ctrl+C.
I click beneath the two tracks to un-select them.
I hit Ctrl+V to paste the two tracks.

What happens:
The tracks are pasted in-between the original two tracks resulting in the sequence A, A, B, B (from top to bottom).

What I expected:
The tracks to be pasted below the original two track resulting in the sequence A, B, A, B.

It took some time to get my mind around what was going on here, and frankly I think it is wrong. Definitely counter-intuitive, but in my book plain *wrong*.

Is it just me?

Yea, pretty dumb, I agree. It only works as you would expect if you first select the track you want them pasted after. SWS action 'select last of selected tracks' in a custom action would at least make the behavior automatic, except the track paste action is shared with item paste, so wouldn't always give good results.

Aha, so it pastes after the first selected track! Well, at least it is consistent then. Thanks.

Similar issue if you select multiple tracks and choose duplicate. My expectation (or rather need) is that it duplicates them below all of the existing tracks but instead it duplicates each under the one it was duplicated from.

I suppose that need could vary between users but if I'm duplicating multiples, I don't want to mess with the current track arrangement, I just want them all to be added to the bottom.

- Make sure you have ReaPack installed and synchronized.
- Open Action List,
You will find this Action:
Script: me2beats_Duplicate tracks.lua

- in TCP, Select the Tracks you wanna duplicate.
- Then run the Action.

Hope this Action behaves more to your wish.
All credits for the Action goes to me2beats.

Warm Regards.

I think "paste" (not "duplicate") follows "last touched track" paradigm. Left and right click will set that. I think some actions will too. There is an action to set first selected track as last touched track. I asked for an API function in the wishlist, because I don't like everything about "mouse click in arrange view changes track selection" preference, but not having it enabled makes pasting (items) more laborious. I would make an action to set track under mouse as last touched track. It probably would move edit cursor even if not included in the action, if put on left click. Dx
